Hi

I am pregnant with my second baby. I had a horrible experience at Chelsea and Westminster. Going to Kingston this time. Does anyone have experience of Kingston?
Also do you know their policy on revealing gender at the 20week scan?

Cheers.

We were asked if we wanted to know gender at 20 weeks (we didn't but clearly it's not a problem)
I liked Kingston most of the time. They were rubbish at breastfeeding advice and left me alone too long (I felt) after delivery, but did apologise for putting me in a 2 bed room (for a couple of hours) as the single wasn't available yet. Not having to share made a big different to me. And a single room means a private bathroom, which means not dealing with anyone else's mess which is really nice!
I was in the midwife led Malden Suite.
Hope that helps. It's 3 years ago so I really only have vague impressions left..

I had my first at Kingston. We found out the sex with no problems.

I was happy with all the treatment I had leading up to and during birth. Though I also feel I was left for a long time after delivery and BF help was poor. They were VERY busy that night. Perhaps both are less of an issue second time around anyway.

I'm now expecting second and this time going to West Mid. Not cos I was unhappy with Kingston, just that it is closer and appts with a toddler in tow are easier!

Personally I think it is as much down to your own situation and luck of who is on shift as the actual hospital. Sounds like you are due a good experience this time. Good luck.

Had my first at Kingston - but 4.5 years ago, so things may have changed!
I had mixed AN care (I needed quite a bit), but a very good birth experience (supportive mw, who went out of her way to help me have things my way). Agree that aftercare/bf support isn't fab, but I think that's sadly standard. The single rooms/ensuite bathrooms are absolutely bloody marvellous - I loved the privacy/feeling I wasn't in anyone's way (I was in for 4 days) - and if you've got a lo visiting, no worries they'll wander off and bother other people's babies!

well done fraggle06 this has certainly gotten more response!! Oh, I'm excited to deliver there now! antenatal care has been as mentioned "mixed"... but I have yet to hear a complaint about the birth area.
So, did anyone get a "tour" of the delivery area before giving birth?
