this won't help but....my gran had 5 boys and then had my mum! (she always said if she'd been a boy she'd have drowned her!)
My great gran on the 'otherside' had 6 girls, the last two were twins! argh!

My friend is pregnant with her 4th. She's had 3 boys and was desperate for a girl. She paid for a scan to be done privately which has confirmed she is expecting a girl!

My friend's is due in May as well.

would love to have private scan to find out sex, but you could pay all that money and baby be in wrong position to find out etc?

I know someone who did, a friend of my sisters.

My MIL....didn't.

Four boys. They had to wait till one of their sons entered the Mating Game for the first girl in the family for generations. (That was DD1.)

As I said, my friend paid to have a "sexing" scan last month - and I think she said it cost around £100.

Would they not tell you the sex at your 20wk scan?

Report
Slinky · 15/02/2005 10:05

Some areas do - but our local area has a policy of not disclosing the sex at the 20 week scan.

Personally, I never wanted to know beforehand anyway, but I think it's very unfair on those who do. I think it should be standard up and down the country - either yes or no - not depending where you live.

Yes it does seem unfair that if you live in some areas that you cannot find out, yet in others you can.
It should be one rule throughout the country.

I agree with slinky that there should be a national policy on disclosure of sex at 20 week scan. Unfortunately some people do terminate pregnancies post 20 weeks if the baby is not the sex they wanted. I would imagine, however that these people will pay for private scans to determine the sex if they feel that strongly about it.

I know several families with 3 of one and then one of the other, if it helps!

Do you have a preference tommy1 (i.e. either a 4th boy or a girl?)

Report
handlemecarefully · 15/02/2005 11:16

Meant to add I know someone who had 5 sons (one tragically died soon after birth) and her 6th child was a girl.
