Pregnancy

Almost 22 Weeks And Hoping This Isnt A Bad Sign

Im 22+5 with DC2. My DS was born 10 weeks premature at 29+5 and stayed in SCBU for 6 weeks.

I had a scan last week, and despite a scare 4 weeks ago when I was told that I needed to be very careful and rest as much as possible, last week I was told all was fine and that I was mis-informed by the other hospital (I was seen at different hospitals as currently visiting family abroad).

The doctor was lovely and re-assuring. He did a thorough scan and said there was no reason for me not to carry on as normal (obviously within my limits!)

I have had terrible back pain today and my bump is aching quite a bit. I feel very stiff and sore.

The birth of DS started with similar symptoms to this- I had been prescribed codiene a few weeks before he was born due to the constant back pain and even though I felt something was wrong, I was sent home 3 times in the week leading up to his birth.

Plesae can somebody give me reassurance that back pain is normal at this stage. My first pregnancy seemed to be over before I knew it so unfortunately I dont remember much!

I will give anything for a longer pregnancy this time around- I just hope this pain isnt a sign of things to come

I think you should phone the on duty midwife and speak to her. Better to be safe than sorry.

Sorry you are feeling so worried about this

I would call the hospital as well; they should be keeping a close eye on you because of your history.

I would say that back pain isn't normal at this stage, unless you have back issues already.

I have back pain and pain in my pelvis after a full days hard work looking after two toddlers and walking the dog. I am 25 weeks with dc3, putting it down to the softer ligaments in pregnancy. I wish you luck that you have a longer pregnancy this time.

Thankyou all.

Im trying to contact my midwife in the UK (Im in Turkey at the moment) but having no luck getting through.

My sister in law keeps commenting on how large my bump has grown in the past week, so Im wondering if its that which may be causing a strain on my back.

I havnt done anything strenuous at all today- woke up at 11am and stayed in all day as didnt want to overdo it in the sun, so I know that I havnt over-worked myself.

Try the local hospital in Turkey. We have just come back from Spain and were very impressed with the health care system... DS had to have stitches, so not quite the same but...

chinchi, just wondering how you are today and whether you have been able to speak to anyone?

Thanks LackaDAISYcal

Feeling so much better than I did the other night.

I managed to see a doctor over here who put it down to nothing more than the baby growing and my body stretching

He said to try not compare this pregnancy to my last as so far things are lookign really good.

Thankyou for your concern
