Another silly question - maternity briefs

I'm finding some of my regular knickers a bit uncomfortable. Do I need to buy special maternity knickers or should I just buy a size bigger?

I just bought loads of 'granny knickers'. Big, cotton, elastic, possibly a size too big for the end of the pregnancy but not necessarily.

I wouldn't bother with maternity knickers, just buy supermarket! No point wasting money IMO, you're better off investing in bras as far as I'm concerned.

Same here, you can then use and throw away the 'granny knickers' after the baby is born.

I tried buying a size bigger but they just didn't fit properly and were uncomfortable. I ended up with some from Bravado (see figleaves.com) that had a wide waistband, elastic at the back but jersey at the front. they look 'normal' not maternity iyswim and were really comfortable all the way to the end (and beyond!) Happy shopping!

Or, you can buy them intending to throw them away and still be wearing them 2 years later .

lol broccoli- I'm actually quite fond of my big knickers these days! My mum got me a load of them after my emcs as the nickers I had sat right on my wound, but I find they are very comfy and you don't get VPL!Not sure what DH thinks of them..

George at asda do 3 packs of bikini briefs for £1, or peacocks have 7 pairs of brightly coloured knicks for £3.50. I got a couple of packs of each in much bigger sizes and they are still comfy at 36 weeks. Also what with..ahem...bladder leakage I change them more often so it's good to have loads of cheap ones that I will definitely throw right in the bin when i no longer need them!

Well they're always useful post-birth, with all the bleeding I needed big knickers to hold in my giant pads....

I agree, just buy comfortable cotton ones in a bigger size.

Just don't wear a skirt with them on.

I got some under the bump ones from mothercare and have found them really comfy.

Tesco multi-pack ultra-cheapies in larger sizes. I'm damned if I'll pay stupid money for fugly maternity knickers - I spend less than that on non-pregnant, usually!

Most of my knickers were rolling down and the rolled bit was digging in, so I've bought a pack of under the bump ones from Jojo maman (using the MN discount!), which are so much better
