My God! Had a bra fitting at BOTH mothercare and Marks and Spencers, you would not believe the size difference !!

I went to mothercare this morning, asked to be fitted... the first person I asked fitted me, she measured me and told me my size ... I was like this

I couldn't find a bra that size so left.

I went to Marks and Spencers asked to be fitted, the 'fitting lady' was called.

i was measured and told I was a

38C.

Brought bras and they fitted lovely.

Guess what Mothercare told me I was??

(This is coming from someone who is 8 weeks into breastfeeding, and is a 38FF. I won't tell you what Mothercare measured me as. For nursing bras I found their sizes really limited- I was a 38 D before I was pg, which is the biggest size some of them even go up to )

It was 36E!

I could fit my head in one of those!

I couldn't believe it!

marks and spencer have alweays been crap at measuring me.
never bothered with mothercare,.

went to R&P who measured me at a shocking 32H. (i went in wearing a 34DD)
but it's bloody lovely. I would NEVER have believed I was that size, but these bras are fabulous, even a few months down the line they fit perfectly. no cutting in on shoulders, no riding up at the back, no spilling out of the cups

14 i think.

Mothercare measured me as 34E I stupidly didn't try on any bras after the fitting because I was in a hurry and got home with a bunch of bras which barely did up and squished my boobs together so badly it looked like I had just one . Bloody useless

I don't believe that someone who is only a size 14 is a 38 back. Have you tried actually measuring yourself just under the bust? What's that measurement in inches?
I'm a 12 and I'm a 30 back (F).

hairtwiddler · 04/08/2008 21:34

You think that's bad... I was a 36K when feeding DD. And yes, they do make them in that size. Hideous things

littlelamb · 04/08/2008 21:35

MsDemeanor, before I ate my way through pregnancy I was a 38D and size 14 so it is possible.

ditto msdemeanor.
when I was fitted with mine I was a size 14 and only needed a 32 back

MsDemeanor · 04/08/2008 21:36

Really? What did you actually measure? Most bra-fitters are completely crap and I believe most women are two sizes smaller than they think!

Report

Disechanted - Were they measuring you for a support bra or a nursing bra?

Report
DisenchantedPlusBump · 04/08/2008 21:37

MsDemeanor.

I really don't know what size I am in clothing,

My weight has been up and down for a while, I'm probably alot bigger than a 14 I haven't tried anything on for a good long while!

I have given up asking to be fitted and just take a selection into the changing room and decide which fits ME and go with that but I never buy a bra without trying on first, even if they are same make and size as the size does vary depending on where in the pile the material was when it was cut and the colour.

I am a 14 - 16 and just got new bras at Bravissimo last week. 32G. I went in wearing 36DD and came out with my norks about 10cm higher up. Lots of people have asked if I have lost weight.

i'm a 14/16 and am 34E.

i think 38c is roughly the same as 36e so you will be wearing a larger band and smaller cup (which is the unflattering way of doing it). not that i rate either shop for measuring. PLEASE go somewhere proper.

Report
MatNanPlus · 04/08/2008 21:39

I often find i need a bigger cup if buying black/dark colours as they don't seem to have the same stretch to them.

If you have a tape measure, measure yourself now - reasonably tightly (not so you can't breathe ) around your ribcage just under your bust. That's your real back size. Ignore all the rubbish about adding four inches or whatnot.
