I went to mothercare this morning, asked to be fitted... the first person I asked fitted me, she measured me and told me my size ... I was like this shock

I couldn't find a bra that size so left.

I went to Marks and Spencers asked to be fitted, the 'fitting lady' was called.

i was measured and told I was a

Brought bras and they fitted lovely.

Guess what Mothercare told me I was??

littlelamb Mon 04-Aug-08 21:28:38

Based on my mothercare experience probably something stupid like 40F

DorrisMcWhirter Mon 04-Aug-08 21:29:42

36 GG?

fishie Mon 04-Aug-08 21:29:47

they are both lousy fitters ime.

go somewhere really good like john lewis or bravissimo.

ilovemydog Mon 04-Aug-08 21:29:54

no, lower!

littlelamb Mon 04-Aug-08 21:30:51

(This is coming from someone who is 8 weeks into breastfeeding, and is a 38FF. I won't tell you what Mothercare measured me as. For nursing bras I found their sizes really limited- I was a 38 D before I was pg, which is the biggest size some of them even go up to angry)

DisenchantedPlusBump Mon 04-Aug-08 21:30:51

It was 36E!

I could fit my head in one of those!

I couldn't believe it!

Tell me LL!

Non of them even went up to that hmm

MsDemeanor Mon 04-Aug-08 21:32:15

What dress size are you? (normally)

thisisyesterday Mon 04-Aug-08 21:33:12

marks and spencer have alweays been crap at measuring me.
never bothered with mothercare,.

went to R&P who measured me at a shocking 32H. (i went in wearing a 34DD)
but it's bloody lovely. I would NEVER have believed I was that size, but these bras are fabulous, even a few months down the line they fit perfectly. no cutting in on shoulders, no riding up at the back, no spilling out of the cups grin

DisenchantedPlusBump Mon 04-Aug-08 21:33:30

14 i think.

littlelamb Mon 04-Aug-08 21:34:45

Mothercare measured me as 34E hmm I stupidly didn't try on any bras after the fitting because I was in a hurry and got home with a bunch of bras which barely did up and squished my boobs together so badly it looked like I had just one wink. Bloody useless

MsDemeanor Mon 04-Aug-08 21:34:45

I don't believe that someone who is only a size 14 is a 38 back. Have you tried actually measuring yourself just under the bust? What's that measurement in inches?
I'm a 12 and I'm a 30 back (F).

hairtwiddler Mon 04-Aug-08 21:34:51

You think that's bad... I was a 36K when feeding DD. And yes, they do make them in that size. Hideous things <shudders>

littlelamb Mon 04-Aug-08 21:35:51

MsDemeanor, before I ate my way through pregnancy I was a 38D and size 14 so it is possible.

thisisyesterday Mon 04-Aug-08 21:36:05

ditto msdemeanor.
when I was fitted with mine I was a size 14 and only needed a 32 back

MsDemeanor Mon 04-Aug-08 21:36:40

Really? What did you actually measure? Most bra-fitters are completely crap and I believe most women are two sizes smaller than they think!

Lubyloo Mon 04-Aug-08 21:37:34

Disechanted - Were they measuring you for a support bra or a nursing bra?

DisenchantedPlusBump Mon 04-Aug-08 21:37:38

I really don't know what size I am in clothing, blush

My weight has been up and down for a while, I'm probably alot bigger than a 14 I haven't tried anything on for a good long while!

MatNanPlus Mon 04-Aug-08 21:38:23

I have given up asking to be fitted and just take a selection into the changing room and decide which fits ME and go with that but I never buy a bra without trying on first, even if they are same make and size as the size does vary depending on where in the pile the material was when it was cut and the colour.

DisenchantedPlusBump Mon 04-Aug-08 21:38:37

Support, am only 20 weeks.

MmeLindt Mon 04-Aug-08 21:38:53

I am a 14 - 16 and just got new bras at Bravissimo last week. 32G. I went in wearing 36DD and came out with my norks about 10cm higher up. Lots of people have asked if I have lost weight.

fishie Mon 04-Aug-08 21:39:06

i'm a 14/16 and am 34E.

i think 38c is roughly the same as 36e so you will be wearing a larger band and smaller cup (which is the unflattering way of doing it). not that i rate either shop for measuring. PLEASE go somewhere proper.

MatNanPlus Mon 04-Aug-08 21:39:54

I often find i need a bigger cup if buying black/dark colours as they don't seem to have the same stretch to them.
