I know how you feel, I'm feeling sick all the time, absolutely exhausted and my DH has gone out for the day, and my 21 month old is sickening with something.

No tips I'm afraid as I wish I was in bed.

Sympathy from me. I had hyperemesis this badly in both my pregnancies and you have my sympathies.

The aching is (as Pruners said) down to lack of essential salts etc in you. You really do need to try and keep something down. I couldn't have eaten crisps, but did manage to keep down rich tea biscuits and Ribena so was replacing sugars and salts that way.

I found that fresh air did help the nausea. Moving around in the fresh air did make me sick, but also conversely made me feel a bit better for having done it and it took the aches away a little bit too. I used to have to walk DD to nursery every day and was sick most days in the park/bins/alleyways on the way there, but arrived home with more energy than when I had left. Try moving round the house first and then build it up to the garden, the street etc after that.

Did you have this with your last pregnancy?

I am keeping down some drinks and rich tea biscuits
I have not been out in the fresh air at all for 6 days
I tried to get ready today but got a whiff of my stinky house and yacked up everywhere!

my sense of smell is so heightened at the moment.
Had normal morning sickness with last pregnancy but nothing like this

Yes the smell thing is the worst isn't it. DH couldn't sleep in the same room as me if he'd had any garlic at all, and talking to people who had pongy breath used to make me be sick straight away.

Right, your task for today (presuming it is not pouring where you are) is to make it downstairs and air the house - get the doors and windows open and get the air circulating. Try the same tomorrow morning.

How pregnant are you? have you had a scan yet to rule out multiples?!

Hi Lilymolly

You have my sympathy - I was beingsick 6-8 timesa day and unfortunately for me it lasted until 24 weeks, although they say I was a very rare case. I managed to keep a couple of teaspoons of ready made mash down every 4ish hours and orange hi-juice - DH would microwave the mash and bring it up along with a bucket! I found just standing at the open window looking out at the street/garden gave me a bit of a break, I slowly managed to make it around upstairs then out onto the patio (over about a week) taking my trusty bucket with me. I found the nausea made me feel exhausted more than the vomiting as the vomiting had a break between, the nausea was constant. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Forgot to mention DH's aftershave alway made me feel ill too - and even today at 37+ weeks the smell of anyone wearing the same brand can make me vomit.

Also, hot baths and very cold drinks helped.

Lily

I had this with both my boys and it was awful, yes I did think of a terminiation and I am glad I didnt, but it wasnt easy.

In the end DH gave me anti emetic injections in my bum 3 times a day for both the pregnanys

It sisnt stop the sickness or the nausea, but it did make it more toralable.

One think I would say is eat whatever you fancy if that is a macdonalds then so be it. Anythin is better than nothing

Other top tips

Dont drink and eat together
Focus on one spot when feeling sick
Accupuncture - it did help sometimes
Aromathephy - nice smells

Get someone in to clean the house, so you dont have to cope with the smell

Door closed when cooking - any smells made me vomit.

My DH cooked me mash and yorkshire puddings and then warmed them in the mircowave and he ate only cold stuff

I was a strange case though and it didnt go until after I had given birth and with DS2 it was two weeks later

oh poor you....loads of sympathy here...i had it with all 3 of my pgs......

i found that ice lollies can really help...they quench your thirst a little without you wanting to glug down 4 litres to bring it back up 3 seconds later....

tesco finest do lush pure orange juice lollies...a treat for a manky feeling mouth!

i used to carry those little food/freezer bags in my pockets at all times...made puking in public a bit easier on the days you have to struggle out...

tiredness makes it worse, so if you need a snooze, then do if you're able.

read a book.....i found lying on my side made me feel less nauseous...and the book gives you somthing else to focus on...

think positive...you feel olike this because all those lovely hormones are keeping you pg, and growing you a baby....

IT WILL END!!!!!!! i promise, it will pass....

hope you're back up and about feeling a bit better soon.

Oh I feel your pain, I do, I do, I do!

I was absolutely dog sick for the first 4 months of this pregnancy with hyperemesis (thank God it only lasted that long - it was hellish). In and out of hospital, couldn't even hold down water some days, lost shed loads of weight and felt like I was sinking into some sport of deep, dark depression/mental illness . And then magically it began to get better. I started to feel less and less sick...I'm 24 weeks pregnant now and feel absolutely fine. No advice - nothing helped. But you need lots of sympathy and looking after and hold the thought that there is light at the end of the tunnel xxx

Oh sympathy, hugely. I had this, was shit.

Chuba chip lollies helped me a bit, as did sucking Ribena-flavoured icecubes - your stomach gets so empty that it rebels against food but a slow ingestion of sugar in tiny amount of liquid can help. Also Old fashioned lemonade worked for me (but only after several trips to hospital and with a daily anti-nausea drugs).

It does improve (though not till wk 12-13 IMO)

Lilymolly,

I am taking cyclizine. I have been for the last 2 weeks after being in and out of hospital. Hyperemesis started for me a 6 weeks and am now 14 weeks. Still feel nauseous even with taking the tablets but I can now eat proper meals and drink (which makes all the difference).

I would definitely see about alternative medication because I really do understand how truly debilitating it is.

Take care and I hope things will improve you soon.
