How much weight did everyone put on in first trimester?

I have a book that says 0-3 lbs. Want to chuck it on fire.

elibumbum Fri 18-Jul-08 20:05:06

A few more lbs than that but then I snack my way through morning sickness grin.

kazbeth Fri 18-Jul-08 20:10:35

Ignore the books. Some people put on more weight in the beginning but then not as much later on. Some of us pile it all on at the end.

This pregnancy I've lost 1/2 stone so far as I've been unable to eat much due to morning sickness but then I'm pretty overweight so according to the books I shouldn't put any weight on at all - presumably the baby and placenta weight nothing if you're overweight hmm

Feel free to chuck it on the fire

Put on a stone each trimester, perhaps more in the last one, was too scared to weigh myself. Lost all the weight both times in 6 months without trying.

Dont worry. Eat.

2lbs

eekamoose Fri 18-Jul-08 20:17:38

Lost 10lb. Very nauseous though. And a little chubby to start with, so wasn't unduly concerned.

Nothing.

Put 2 stone on in second trimester shock

Then nothing in third.

Was weird.

star6 Fri 18-Jul-08 20:24:06

Nothing.
I'm 5'2 115 lbs pre pregnancy.
Gained 8 lbs in 2nd trimester...
Am 28 weeks now... just lost 2 lbs... not sure why!! Not sick or anything.
GP seemed concerned. MW said absolutely fine!!! I'm not eating the extra 300 calories they recommend, but eating plenty, that's for sure. Just can't stuff in that extra meal. I listen to my body and eat (healthily) when I'm hungry.
GP weighed me at every appointment for a while... and had a chart to show if weight gain was ok... MW said this is unnecessary.

Piratecat - A WEEBLE!!!!!!!!! ROFL!!!!!!!!!! That's too funny. I'm sure that's what I'll look like by end of third trimester! What a funny picture ha ha ha!!!

I put on 8lbs in the first trimester. Have no idea how, as I had hyperemesis, and kept nothing down.

Put on about three and half stone throughout the pregnancy, due to only being able to keep down processed junk.

Nearly lost it all now, though (DS is 16 months), and feeling marvellous.

Try to blank out anything about weight guidelines: it'll only make you miserable.

LackaDAISYcal Fri 18-Jul-08 20:31:07

lost a stone, but I think it was down to eating healthily, going off chocolate and not drinking.

I had it to lose though.

and I must still be losing fat though as I've only put on a couple of pounds since than and am 24 weeks.

With my DD I put on nearly a stone in the first trimester though.

Booboobedoo Fri 18-Jul-08 20:31:28

piratecat: I, too, am 5'3", and I looked like this.

piratecat Fri 18-Jul-08 20:51:41

i hear you!!!!

bikerunski Fri 18-Jul-08 20:56:00

Lost a stone and a half in first trimester due to hyperemisis. Now 31 weeks and too scared to weigh myself. I look like Babapapa (French kiddy cartoon character, who looks like a mishapen Weeble).

Alishanty Sat 19-Jul-08 09:53:57

Probably about that, 3 lb.

pgwithnumber3 Sat 19-Jul-08 10:09:32

Have no idea (am nearly 12 weeks) and don't want to know as it just depresses you. In my first 2 pregnancies I gained the majority of my weight the first 28 weeks then hardly gain any whatsoever. Everyone is different and those books are only a guideline, can you imagine if we were all the same!

Tapster Sat 19-Jul-08 10:55:37

Throw most pregnancy/baby care books on the fire. It so depends on how much you weigh beforehand. I put on 3 stone in total (well I gave up weighing myself at the end) and was only 8 stone to begin with. I lost two stone by the end of the second week after giving birth. I did have a 9lb 1oz baby though. Everybody including a midwife told me I had put on too much weight.

This time I can ignore them. I'm only 5 weeks but I have a bump already, last time I was told it was because I had no stomach muscles - I did 2 hours of yoga most days at the time so I think they may have been wrong.

Ignore ignore ignore. Listen to your body if you are hungry eat if not don't.

Lost over a stone in the first trimester due to hyperemesis. I am 24 weeks now and have gained that back now so I am actually at my pre-pregnancy weight.

Heartmum2Jamie Sat 19-Jul-08 12:19:00

I gained nothing in the first trimest, actually didn't gain any weight until I was about 18 weeks. I am now 25+3 and up 6 lb so far. I eat what I want when I want it but really don't have much of an appetitie and now terrible heartburn has kicked in making me feel blah. By the end of my pregnancy with ds2 I had but on 15lb. With ds1 I put on about 35lb all together.

belgo Sat 19-Jul-08 12:20:50

Lost 6 kilos in first trimester with first pregnancy, due to vomiting.
Also lost weight in the beginning of my second pregnancy.

With baby number 3, I've been putting on weight very quickly right from the start.

lljkk Sat 19-Jul-08 12:25:20

Lost 1-10 lbs, BMI hit 19 or so (baby was fine in the end, tho)

Lionstar Sat 19-Jul-08 12:38:40

Lost a stone due to extreme lack of appetite, then only put on exact baby weight, which came off immediately after birth (unsurprisingly - lol). 17 months on still haven't managed to regain that weight, probably as am still breastfeeding. Am TTC #2 though and am a bit worried if it happens again because will push me into underweight category.

Honestly I couldn't stomach eating at all - existed on vitamins, ginger biscuits and dry toast with marmite - for three months!
