Pregnancy

have pain in my vagina area. Feels sore when I walk...23 weeks pregnant

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and my vagina area really feels sore when I walk. This is my second pregnancy and my DD is 15 months old. Could it be something to do with being pregnant so close together? It hurts more when I have to carry my DD about.
Anyone experienced similar?

Is it actully your vagina or could it be your pelvis?

I have SPD which is a pregnancy related pelvic disorder and it often feels very sore underneath, but not actully my lady bits, more the bones above iykwim.

I had a kind of dragging achey pain when I had been standing or walking a lot
I think it was my pelvic floor finding life a bit hard - someone suggested it might be the start of a varicose vein in the vulva

the other possibility I can think of is the beginning of SPD (pelvic pain) - if the pain feels like grinding, electric shocks, or inflammation anywhere in your pelvis or vagina

walking does make it worse - you may also find lying down uncomfortable?

I would see someone about it as if it proves to be SPD you may need physio and advice to manage it

my SPD usually does feel like pain in my actual vagina, but I know others feel it in hips, or bottom, or anywhere else on pelvis

Is area heavy and swollen? That's probably "vericose veins" in the groin area. Extremely common. The blood pools there. It's horrible. Was one of the worst things about pregnancy for me, and just went on and on. Well anyway that's what my obstetrician said it was.

yeah it is my pelvic area...I will ring my midwife tomorrow and ask her for advice.

Does your pubic bone feel like it's being forced apart, with throbbing barbed-wire in either side of your groin? Sometimes stabs into the vagina and the base of the stomachMaybe pain on either side of the base of your spine? And is it worse climbing stairs or getting dressed standing up (one leg at a time lifting)? If so, sounds like SPD I'm afraid.

yeah i have vaginal varicose vein in pregnancy. Got it in about 7th mth of second pregnancy, got it 5th month in this one though. It is horrible, REALLY swollen, puts me 'off games' with DH as am self conscious about it. It is not massively painful though, can throb sometimes.

Oh God yes, if lifting one leg makes you yell with pain and becomes physically impossible then it's definitely SPD. Ditto to turning in bed. It was always the pubic area above the lady bits which was worst for me.

I have that swollen throbbing feeling, am 29 weeks. I mentioned it to MW and she said it could be a prolapse and said I needed to go to the GP to have it confirmed. Does anyone else know about this?

I agree with the others - it could be SPD. I have mine at the front too so it feels really sore in the pubic bone area. It started at about 20 weeks for me (I'm hypermobile so it was more likely to happen anyway). It really hurts at the end of the day, when walking (esp as I used to take massive strides all the time) and when rolling over at night (used to use my legs to lever myself). I posted here and got some great advice, went to see the doctor in the maternity unit who referred me to a physio. Got a tubigrip and support belt and lots of great advice which have helped me to manage it.
If it sounds like it may be spd (google the pelvic partnership for more info) then you can help it by taking smaller strides, keeping your legs together (!?!) - esp when getting in and out of cars, sitting on a pillow tilted forward at a ratio of 1:3 (fold it in a third putting the fat side to the back) and keeping your knees lower than your hips etc. It's def worth seeing a physio. Good luck!

I am currently 34 weeks pregnant, I work in a warehouse and of course do a lot of walking. The other day my husband noticed that my vaginal area was a little bit swollen, yesterday while at work I walked a lot and now this morning it hurts a bit when I walk. Like a sore feeling after walking, has anyone been told to limit their walking by any chance ?
