Has anyone got any experience of the Mamas & Papas Pliko buggy and car seat? I'm thinking of buying one, but before I spend such a lot of money, I would like to hear about your experience, good points, bad points etc.

Any thoughts would be welcomed!

Yes, that's what we've got. They have both been really good. Ds grew out of the car seat at c. 9 months - the age they say they will, but he is quite short, and I think long babies grow out sooner. The buggy is fantastic and we still use it when we need a sturdier buggy (rain/lots of shopping) although we did buy a light stroller buggy when he was 18 months. The only thing I would say is that we never used the two of them together. But I don't think we would have done whichever buggy & seat we had chosen, there just didn't seem any point. We will definitely use them both again for no.2, and if I had my time again I would buy them again.

i don't have one but know loads of people who do. they always seemed very bulky to me, & heavy. and a bit clunky. also, travel systems seem a good idea initially (i know, i bought one!), but you only use them for such a short amount of time. i'm pregnant with my second now, & think i'm going to get a nice light 3 wheeler.

We have a Pliko although have never used it with a car seat (we used a Britax). My dd is 2.9 now and this has been her one and only pushchair right from birth. We bought it specifically after much research because it seemed like a good compromise between the clunky travel system and a light weight buggy and I was determined not to have to buy more than one pushchair/buggy. It is still going strong and will definitely be used again (with a buggy board)when new baby arrives in April.

We've got one and both DH and I hate it! Heavy, clunky, fiddly, badly designed. Used it with carseat several times - quite handy but not really worth it. If we had to choose again, we'd choose a Stokke or a Bugaboo. Everyone we know is happy with those.

Actually, lockets is right. We knew we were planning to have 2 fairly close together - I am now PG with #2 and we are probably going to buy a Phil&Teds - so in retrospect we should have got that in the first place!

Hi All,
Thanks for all your thoughts. You are really being a great help. The Plico seems to get mixed reactions. Can I plague you with a couple more questions (can you tell I'm a 1st timer??)

Re the Phil & Ted, my SIL has both the P&T and the Plico and says she prefers the Plico for "town" use and that the 2 types are a similar weight. Also, the P&T is too long to easily get round shops although fab for walks in the park etc with 2 babies. In your opinions (I realise how subjective these things are), is this true? Please be honest, I'm getting all confused .

Also, I asked in the buggy shop about P&T carseats, and they said the P&T didn't have a carseat attachment. Is this wrong?

Hated the Pliko, used it a few times then gave it away. Love the Phil & Ted's E3. I have DD 27mths (10kg) and DS 14mths (9.8kg) who goes in the toddler seat and it is so manageable to push up hills, everywhere in fact as it is strong without being heavy, has a comfortable padded handle bar, and is altogether fantastic. Wish I knew about it in the beginning. Highly recommend!

the p&t has a sort of adapter that enables you to use a carseat sorry not a pic but it explains better than I do . Personally I don't think the p&t is that long, I find it easy navigating it in our corner shop which is tiny. hth

Hated the Pliko too and loved my P+T to bits
Never had a problem with it around town at all,
hte P+T does have a carseat thingy now, although I have never been a fan of carseat on prams, not good for babies to be in them too long and all that.. plus you have to upgrade to a bigger seat by 9 mths in most cases so I preferred to buy best 0-4 seat I could afford and never regretted it, plus the carry seat KILL your back and neck!!!
The mamas and papas freestyler is a better pram I found... the pliko is just too wibbly and plasticky and bits stopped working, it took the strength of a wrestler to get it locked when folded...

Have you had a look at the maclaren global which can be used as a travel system... I dont like M&P as i find them to heavy and clunky too....I was a nanny for 15 year and have to say maclaren are the best in my opinion
