Just wondering after something my Mum mentioned in conversation the other day - My bump is very hiccuppy and she says this means that we will be having a colicky baby - has anyone else heard of this? (Would like it to be wrong as you can probably imagine!)

i've never heard that saying, but, dd1 was VERY hiccupy sometimes 4 times a day, but, she never have colic. DD2 only had hiccups once and she suffered terrible colic.

dd not colicky hiccuped like mad before making her appearance. they mostly do, don't they? this one is hiccuping too. i was lying in bed feeling these strange little regular pulsating blips last night when i suddenly remembered what they were.
does anyone know, why do babies hiccup in utero? as DH pointed out, it's not like they've accidentally gulped too much air, so why does it happen?

DD hiccupped for months and didn't have colic at all.

Thanks for the prompt replies. I was hoping that there would be lots of bumps that hiccupped and weren't colicky - mind you have probably tempted fate now anyway
