Hello all - I am suffering! Been using canestan cream for the outside but need to know whether it is safe to use pesseries internally? Any one?

yes, I asked this question a couple of months ago, and the ladies here said yes. I'll look for the thread for you, as there were a couple of provisos.

i had thrush once during my first pregnancy. the doctor said yes, and wont harm the baby. however no taking tablets as it'll go into your bloodstream and therefore into the baby's.

Thanks for such prompt responses - it is doing my head in...as you can imagine!!!! I am 26 weeks so should be OK.

Argh - I always get it during moments of hormonal upheaval - and my pregnancies were rife with it.

The pharmacist wouldn't sell me the pesseries, but my doc prescribed them no worries. Always clears it up in a couple of days...

Apart from getting reassuring advice form your GP, he/she can prescribe suitable treatment which you can get for free, rather than paying over the counter prices

When I had thrush during pregnancy I was just given the cream. The week after giving birth I was given the pessary & cream - great when I was also dealing with the lochia, piles and general discomforts of giving birth!
