Does anyone know what implantation bleeding is like?

I think (and really really hope) I may have some implantation bleeding (CD 22, dpo 12) but have no idea what implantation bleeding is like - various websites suggest it is dark brown but I wonder if anyone has any real info from their own experience.

Thank you

Mine was more of a mid brown (sorry) not light, but not very dark.

Mine was bright red. Not very much mind you but really bright red. Sorry TMI but I'll always remember it!

Mine was like the tail end of a period, scanty, muddy, a few spots of bright blood. Like you get sometimes when you think your period has stopped and then it comes back.

With no period pains.

thank you - do you remember when you got it and how long it lasted?

Sorry to sound so desperate - been ttc for so long now and this is the first time I have had any bleeding before AF was due so am feeling very hopeful.

Yes, for the first day I thought my period was on it's way, it was quite light but I just assumed it would come. The next day it dwindled but went on for five days when I wiped and a few spots. Not really enough to use anything.

For some people it can seem like a regular period for three days.

Have you done a test yet? If you have enough HCG for an implantation bleed you may have high enough levels to get a positive result (using first morning urine).

Don't worry about being TMI btw, once you have had a kid you will realise nothing is TMI anymore

thanks wmmc - websites never give that sort of helpful info. I don't usually allow myself to get my hopes up but seem to have got carried away this time. I think I will do as you suggest and test in a couple of days.

I have to say it's always worth getting your hopes up. Being positive is key to getting pregnant and if you don't succeed one month, well at least you've had a few days of joy while you waited to find out and you can start again refreshed knowing that you are one step closer to success.

Do you have any other symptoms (cervical mucous was the one that tipped me off first time, I felt like I had a snail in my pants!)

i like your attitude.

a few other possible symptoms - really tired, a little nauseous, slightly tender breasts - but they could be linked to pms. No snail pants though.

Really tired tipped me off this time. My DD was gosh I didn't realise this till now 12 months old and I am still breastfeeding so I had no periods. But I suddenly started conking out at 8pm and being a grumpy cow.

Then got a 'period' which wouldn't start properly and so the next day I thought 'I'll do a test - that always makes my period come'.

Fell off the loo in shock!

i had an implantation bleed it was about 2-3 weeks after my last period started which i thought was odd, i did a number of tests over the next few weeks as i felt lousy and sick etc, all came up negative, wasn't til 8 weeks that i got one that was positive. the bleed lasted 2 days max and was v light no pain - i only knew this was related to the implant when i explained it all to my gp and she told me what it was.

Good luck blueberry! I bled for just one day, very little brownish blood and then nothing (not even any cm for a while). I didn?t have any other symptoms for a while though.

Thanks Libbylo. what sort of test did you use? i did a test this morning but was -ve. It was Clearblue and I think they are meant to be v accurate so perhaps I should just resign myself to the fact that its probably just AF a few days early.

However it does seem as though quite a few people bleed in early pregnancy but don't necessarily get a +ve test until a few days later.

Perhaps I shouldn't dwell on it too much - not quite sure why I can't just wait and see like a normal person!

Ah blueberry about the neg test, but it may just be too early! Are you still bleeding? If you are, then perhaps assume you aren't pregnant and test again in a week to be sure.

If you still get a negative - that's great - you are obviously fertile and having a regularish cycle, so just get straight back on to having sex every three days so next month, you get the result you are longing for.

Blueberry, can I give you a boost too? I didn't have implantation bleeding with DD so when I got a bit of brownish/pinkish bleeding a week before AF was due I was certain it was on its way. But after 2 days of tiny bits of brown/pink and then 3 days of nothing, I finally did a test and bingo BFP! Hope the same is true for you but don't be disheartened if it isn't. As someone else said, stay positive!

I had implantation bleeding on day 18. Now 36 weeks pg.

Bleeding was like the beginning of my period but didn't get any heavier. Lasted for 3 days or so. Went to GP cos was worried, had smear test, boobs got bigger and tested on day 30 - BFP!

It's still early days for you so try not to test until maybe day 30. Lots of luck.

I had implantation bleeding - bright, bright red (not how my period usually is to start with) and lasted just about 12 hours (overnight). Had another 2 days later, and am now terrified i'm having twins!!!

It's really hard to stay positive and 'brush off' disappointment when its something you want to happen so badly. However, its important to be hopeful and hang on to that otherwise, what else is there??? [a large gin would be nice if i wasn't pg ]

Good luck Blueberry and let us all know how it goes....

Well - the dreaded AF has arrived so I was obviously just being fanciful but am much heartened by everyone's support so thank you very much. . Funnily enough, rather than feeling down I do feel a step closer. Thank you.

Good luck with the twins loulou.

Ah bad luck this time Blueberry - next time

You are on the right track and the very fact that you are having periods and a regular cycle stands you in very good stead. You just need to keep on going and you'll get there really soon.

Then you'll be on her moaning about morning sickness

loulou33 · 01/02/2008 13:07

sorry it didn't work this time but you will get there, i can feel it in my waters!!

oh and the twins thing - not funny - blueberry not funny at all
take care xx

Thanks WMMC

Can i ask you a quick question. You mentioned in an earlier message having sex every 3 days to improve chances - is that better than having sex as often as poss in the three or four days up to ovulation? It would certainly be a less gruelling and somewhat more enjoyable schedule

Hi blueberry, I know it's horrible when you keep trying and never get the result you are so desperatley wanting. It took us over 2 years of trying and 2 miscarriages before we had our little girl. So take heart it will happen and just enjoy the practice because you will not have the energy once the little one arrives :0

Can anyone tell me if this is implantation bleeding? If not I'm on a week early. I'm not on any contraception, just seeing how it goes. I've been off the pill for 3 months now.

Does anyone know what implantation bleeding is like?
