Hello, anyone after a recent planned section who can say how quickly/slowly they were sent home please? Planned CS on the 26th!

Back home next day by 3pm

I think they will make your exit as fast or as slow as you want, within reason. Ie, make it very clear from the beginning that you only want to stay 24hrs. Get yourself moving asap. Get the catheter out as soon as you can and weeing lots. Equally, if you wanted to stay for extra support, then most trusts would allow 48 hours.

On my feet the following morning, showered by lunchtime and home late afternoon. So just over 24 hrs. I did push to leave though, they wouldn’t have kicked me out, and you had to show you could wee normally etc.

Unplanned but not emergency (in labour section). 24 hours until home thankfully.

Our trust is/was 72hr minimum stay (my youngest is 9 though so may have changed) with checks to make sure that baby is feeding and going to the toilet ok and that you're ok too.

Here they like you to go home on day 2 with day 1 being the day of the op.

I had my first at 10pm and was discharged the following morning at 11am so 13hrs all in. My second was born at 3pm and I had the catheter out and was showered and sitting in my chair with a book by dinner time. Stayed overnight and was discharged as soon as the paediatrician had done some checks.

Getting up and about asap really will help.

I have a planned section on the 8th of March and my Son is 3 on the 10th. I’m really hoping I’m home for his birthday.
