Period like cramps 4-5 weeks

Hi everyone

I think I'm somewhere between 4 and 5 weeks pregnant atm and for the last week I've had period like cramps. They started the day after o got my BFP.

They started lasting only 5-10 mins and only happened about 3 times a day. Yesterday and the day before they were coming and going all day. But today they seem to have calmed down a bit again and I've only had it twice. They seem to be worse when I need to toilet and when I've been they subside after about 10 mins. It's not a UTI as I did a test for that yesterday.

Im worried about them as I had a miscarriage previously where I had these cramps for about a week and 5 days later I just started bleeding.

Has anyone had cramps like these and are they normal? I'm trying to figure out if they're signs of a miscarriage or just part of pregnancy symptoms at 4-5 weeks. The miscarriage was also my first pregnancy so I have nothing else to go by and google seems to say it could be all sorts.

Thanks in advance for any advice x

I'm 5+5 and have had period cramps from about 4/5DPO and still have them now although they're dulling down a bit.

Completely normal from what I've read.

I'm 14 weeks now and had cramps regularly from before BFP until I was probably 7/8 weeks Smile

Thanks guys, that's reassuring. I feel like because they were so bad the last two days that something bad is happening.

I dunno if it's a mixture of implanting/stretching and also a bit of pressure on my bladder. Fingers crossed that's all it is!

I went to the NHS walk in centre yesterday where I had the UTI test and the nurse asked me about the cramps. So I explained how they get and that I'd had a mc and she just said 'aww, hmmm, it's a worrying time isn't it' and didn't say anything else. No reassurance or anything, just a bit of patronising sympathy and I think that's made me feel worse. I'm sure she didn't mean for it to come across that way but just saying 'aww' and staring at me is slightly uncomfortable.

I'll try and stop panicking, I guess it's a common symptom and of not then there's not really anything I can do about it anyway!

Thanks again guys ❤️

Super normal, hope they calm down. I am 12 weeks and still getting achiness at times.

@Aisforharlot that's for the reassurance. Can't wait for the next few weeks to pass although I'll probably only worry about something else then 😂

I'm 6w+3 and the cramping is only just starting to ease off a bit. I had such severe cramps before I got my bfp that I was convinced my period was coming. I didn't do a test until I was five days late as I was cramping so much I thought it must be period and not pregnancy

@stormelf oh really. I wish the nurses and google could give this advice too. I think a lot of my anxiety comes from things I read making believe it's something bad! I guess I need to stop reading so much and just try and relax. Got an early scan booked for 23 May, can't come fast enough!

When I was 5 weeks I had some light period type cramping, I just assumed that my period was on the way and when it didn't show up after a couple days thats when I realised I was pregnant.
