Morning sickness at 18 weeks?

I've suffered nausea all the way through this pregnancy but it was manageable to the point I could still eat even if I was losing weight.
Last Monday I started with a cold/flu and it seemed to make it worse, to the point I couldn't eat, sleep and I was dehydrated. I was seeing and hearing things.
Ended up with a day hospital stay on IV fluids. I'm home now and feeling sick again today so can feel myself getting anxious. It's made me consider termination at this late stage just to get some relief, I'm so desperate.
Am I likely to have it all the way through? Or it it improve around 20 weeks? I'm a shadow of who I used to be.

That's meant to say with a FOUR day hospital stay x

You could ask your GP to prescribe you some anti sickness tablets.
My nausea stopped at 17/18 weeks with my first pregnancy thank god.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, it sounds awful. I would echo @AyyX and recommend asking your GP for antiemetics - they’re all completely safe by 18 weeks. I’m also 18 weeks and have been on a combo of drugs since I was 9 weeks due to HG. They usually start you on cyclizine and within 2 days my nausea and vomiting were hugely reduced. At first it can make you very drowsy but if you take them regularly that goes after a couple of days for most people. Although I’m much better I also get anxious when I start to feel sick - it’s just so horrible. You don’t have to suffer like this xx

@Rubyrecka what a nasty comment. if you haven’t experienced non-stop sickness and nausea you have no idea how debilitating it can be.

@Littletoaster2021 it wasn't a comment it was a question.

I totally agree that constant sickness and nausea is so bad and no one tells you actually how bad it can get, I was in hospital numerous times at the beginning and to be honest I wasn't sure if I could carry on either, I wasn't myself I felt actually depressed. You're not alone honestly, mine actually started to get better around 18-20 weeks so I would just say hang on in there, and I'm sure it will get better!! I know some unlucky people do get sickness the whole way through but majority of people by 24 weeks do say it gets lots better. I hope your okay!! X

My sickness got worse with my first at around 16 weeks and unfortunately continued until the second she was out.
I totally understand you saying what you are. I’m 6 weeks pregnant now and have just had my first hospital visit because I’m being so sick already this time.
Please ask for some medication it does help, in my case doesn’t completely but makes life a little more bearable.
I’m very down today, but 4 days without food does that.
Sort I’m not anymore help, just know you are not alone.

I really sympathise OP, I'm 37 weeks now but have suffered so much with the vomiting/nausea this pregnancy.

I can understand your desperation but please don't let that be the reason you terminate if it is an otherwise really wanted baby. It doesn't help to hear it but it doesn't last forever and at the end of it you will have your baby in your arms.

I lost a stone and a half between the first two trimesters as I wasn't keeping anything down at all, also needed to be put on an IV as dehydrated. I tried everything I could find, ginger, sickness bands, peppermint etc. I tried cyclizine and other sickness tablets prescribed - none of them did anything to help. Although if you haven't tried anti sickness tablets definitely speak to a doctor for some, they've helped a lot of people.

I really thought it was never going to end, I was miserable, crying daily and wondered how I was going to come with the rest of the pregnancy. It eased off a lot for me at 20 weeks though. I still had a lot of nausea and it didn't take much to set me off but I wasn't vomiting the same and was actually able to keep food/water down and genuinely started feeling so much better in myself, able to go out again etc! The nausea and occasional vomiting after the 20 weeks was so much easier to cope with.

Hang in there, you're nearly half way and it does get easier ❤️

Get yourself some Ondansetron OP, it's the only thing that's worked for me. I'm 19 weeks now and feel totally normal on just one a day, the second I stop it, it's vomit central again. There's no need to suffer when medicines are available and it is suffering, I completely get where you're coming from.

I vomited and was nauseous constantly until about 24 weeks - I just started forcing myself to eat and get through it for the sake of the baby.

It will end, know that it will.

Then you will get the weird cravings. I wanted to eat soap powder. Smile
