I'm 20 weeks now with a small ish bump. I'm finding after being asleep a few hours I wake with my side aching and it's really uncomfortable. It's currently 4am and I'm sat up as can't relieve this discomfort any other way.

I have a support pillow and tried pillow between legs, it feels like I need something under bump but now sure how that would work. Any thoughts?

Get a pregnancy pillow that goes under the bump - they're great!

I had a dream geini and still use it now... DD is one...

Thankyou.. It's the dream genii I have, it doesn't go under my bump though it's too big 🤷‍♀️

I built a nest of 4 or 5 different pillows to help me sleep.

I bought a wedge pillow off Amazon and that is helpful for sliding under the bump.

I have this (although I'm much bigger as a twin pregnancy) - pregnancy pillows are a bit of a waste of money in my eyes as some of them are very expensive so I just use an extra bed pillow between my knees and tucked under the bump - does the trick

Have you tried putting some extra padding underneath where you are sleeping? I've had this pain for a couple of weeks and found putting a folded duvet under the sheet on my side of the bed has made it much better. It seems to take a bit of pressure of where I am lying on my side.

I’ve found the best thing for me is a normal bed pillow between my legs longways, so thigh to ankles and then an old pillow that’s gone flat just under my bump to support! Tried a pregnancy pillow and kept waking with bad back and hips.

In nearly 19 weeks and I’ve been using the BBHug me for the last few days and that’s worked really well. I’ve found that it isn’t just having something under my bump but also against it. Having my legs more parallel to my hips has helped too.

When my bump is pushed into the pillow it really takes the weight off. Feels less like the baby is trying to flop to one side.

All pregnancies I slept on my back Blush I'm a side sleeper but it was the most comfortable.....

I bought a long pillow - it is about 5 foot long but the width of a normal pillow. I then had it under my bump and between my knees so I could sleep on my side. It meant it stayed in place. Turning over was a massive palaver though so I bought another one for the other side!

I had a giant u shaped pillow, £20ish from ebay, I used the bend as a pillow and slept with it between my knees supporting bump. I liked it being double sided as rolling over was easier!

Excellent, Thank you! I'll try making some sort of wedge out of a sheet tonight.. I'm also wondering if the dream genii is making it worse and putting me all out of line, so will try a normal pillow like you suggest.. fingers crossed!

Is it your hip aching? Could be spd if so.

Report
Wherethereshope · 10/01/2021 21:56

No hip aches, just feels like bump is stretching/ pulling.

I had a much better night last night, no dream genii, lots of normal pillows and folded towel under bump. Fingers crossed it wasn't just a fluke!!
