Anyone else super impatient waiting for midwife to contact them?! I'm 5 weeks today and it being my first pregnancy I'm desperate to get everything sorted ASAP😂

How long did it take from submitting your online referral to your midwife calling?!

I submitted mine Monday morning and been glued to my phone since😂 x

I'm about 8 weeks and they contacted me 2 days ago with my booking appt. I will be about 10 weeks when I have it. You don't usually have your first appt until at least 8 weeks! These first few weeks are the longest! I foound out I was pregnant 13th Dec and time has dragged!!

Your first appointment will probably be around 8/9 weeks probably over the phone, there isn’t really much to get sorted as such though. Just a chat about your medical history and some advice on who to call if you have any problems. In my trust women are having their bloods taken with their 12 week scan bloods and urine sent then too. Honestly don’t feel disappointed but this first bit, nothing really happens!

5 weeks is very early. You will probably have a booking appointment by phone at about 9-12 weeks. That will be it. As hard as it is you need to get used to the wait. All being well, you’ve got nine and a half months of it. Grin

Oh my goodness that seems like forever away and I have a billion questions - Dr Google will have to suffice for now😂 thanks all xx

Have a look at the NHS website that usually will answer your questions about what not to eat/do, when to call the hospital if you have concerns! Or mumsnet is always a fountain of knowledge too! It will hopefully go quickly for you!

I called GP and they said 8 weeks so I am now booked in for telephone appointment with midwife last week of Jan. First timer too so would be nice to be seen and confirm everything sooner but we've got a bit waiting to do Confused

Everything feels super slow in the beginning! First telephone booking appointment at 10 weeks (lasts about 15 minutes to go through medical history, choice of hospital) and then scan at 12 weeks but until then we just used the NHS website for advice on foods etc. You get a lot more appointments later on, but yeh in the beginning it doesn't feel like there's much contact. Patience is key :)

Thanks all! Just wanted to make sure that was the norm as I've no idea 😂 I think I might book in for a private early scan to put my mind at rest - any opinions on the best time to book? Ideally we'd like to be able to hear the heartbeat and I don't want to book too early and get myself stressed out because we can't hear it! Xx

I’m 9 weeks today and the first trimester just appears to be a long waiting game 😂
In my area you can’t refer to midwives until 6 weeks. I heard from them the day after but I don’t have my booking appt until next Friday when I’ll be 10 weeks

Oh wow! There wasn't a specific time frame when I did it so just did it asap! Xx

My booking appointment is at 10.5 weeks and scan at 13 weeks! So long to wait.

I booked an early scan, usually around 8 weeks recommended as you can see a bit more and hopefully see a heartbeat. While it’s the case for any early can, if it’s too early it can cause some worry, because you can’t see much so hard to be accurate and if your dates are out you might see less than think.

Hope all goes well xx

This is what I'm worried about - wanted to book one but the place near me says from 6 weeks, worried that's too early! Xx
