Weight loss in first trimester

Is it a bad thing if I’m losing weight in my first trimester?!

I’m not eating great, I have pretty bad food aversions and find it difficult to get myself to the point of eating. When I do eat, it’s not a whole lot and, unfortunately, I wouldn’t say it’s particularly healthy- pizza, chips, sometimes all I can stomach is a bag of crisps in a day. I am however craving jelly sweets a lot and probably getting half my calories from them some days 🙈
I’ve lost about 4lbs this week. I wasn’t hella skinny before, nor was I overweight. I just want to make sure my baby is going to be healthy and ok, but I can’t bring myself to eating three meals a day or even several smaller ones.

I lost a fair amount of weight with my first pregnancy in the first trimester but so long as you're getting food in when you can and you're not losing drastic amounts, you and your baby will be fine. Your body is very clever at extracting what the baby needs from you. Just try and get a bit of fruit in you if you can and take a multivitamin. Hopefully food aversions will pass soon and you'll be able to eat a bit more balanced then.

I lost quite a bit in my first trimester. My gp told me to eat what I could when I could and that the baby will take every thing it needs. If anyone was going to suffer it would be me. I was prescribed some antinausea meds to help with the weight loss and the impact it was having on my mental health.

My pregnancy sickness continued through most of my pregnancy. I gained a little over a stone in pregnancy but baby was healthy when born. Within a week I was at my prepregnancy weight, within a month post partum I was half a stone less.

I've had hyperemesis for each of my pregnancies and have ALWAYS lost more weight than I've ever put on. My youngest DC Made me eat whole trifles towards the end too of his pregnancy too. I should have been about 6 tonnes by the end of that one lol

Sometimes you lose weight with pregnancy. As long as your measuring well, all should be ok.

I weighed less the day I gave birth than when I got pregnant. Baby was a happy and healthy 7lb 4oz, she’s now 19 and sat next to me singing along to Christmas songs!

Thank you so much for the replies 💕 I just feel so guilty thinking I’m not providing enough for this baby. I have my 12 week scan in a fortnight so hopefully they will put my mind at ease then that everything is developing along well.

I sent my partner out for muller corners today. I don’t think I’ve ever willingly ate a muller corner in my life but I’m having to restrain myself from devouring the entire pack right now. So that’s good news!!

@errorofjudgement That’s so lovely ☺️

Sound much the same as me. I'm 11 weeks now and all I went to eat is yogurt, my partner was complaining yesterday that our fridge is just full of different types of yogurt 😂

I ended up losing weight until 26 weeks in pregnancy 1 and 30 weeks in pregnancy 2. In both I only ended up a lb or 2 heavier at the end of pregnancy.

Post pregnancy I piled on the weight though!

@fridpix I still have six in the fridge and yet all I can think about is going to Asda tomorrow to fill the fridge with more 😂 At least it’s something I can stomach....
