17 weeks and feeling like something is wrong for no good reason...(10 Posts)
I’m 17 weeks pregnant with my first baby (after 2 early losses) 12 week scan was good, heartbeat was fine at 16 week midwife app but I just don’t feel pregnant and I’ve got a sinking feeling that it’s all gone wrong.
I’ve not had any bleeding since week 6 or so and no signs of anything wrong, I’ve just got a feeling... is this normal? Am I just being pessimistic?
I’ve just told my boss and head of department at work and I feel as if I’m jumping the gun and it’s all going to go wrong...
Can you book a private scan to put your mind at rest? I’m 15 weeks pregnant and honestly haven’t felt pregnant since 6-7 weeks, I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t seen the baby at 12 weeks!
I'm sorry that you're feeling this way, pregnancy is lovely but brings a boat load of worries with it. Try not to worry too much, hopefully it won't be too long until you start feeling baby move and that should help put your mind at ease.
I had a few scans to reassure me but that doesn't mean you won't stop worrying within a few days of your scan.
I know it's easier said than done, but try to enjoy this time, good luck
I might do, I have my anomaly scan in 2 and a half weeks so might wait for that as money is a bit tight and in shielding.
Logically I feel I’m being silly but I just can’t shake off the feeling of not being pregnant...
I think you’re right, once I can feel movements it’ll feel more real...
Please tell your midwife ASAP. Midwives are supposed to listen to mothers' instincts.
I do hope all is well for you.
The trouble is I don’t think it’s an instinct as such, just a worry the I don’t feel ‘pregnant enough’ not that I know what pregnant enough feels like
I felt like this just this weekend. I’m 16 weeks tomorrow and though I’m not showing at all for the last 2 weeks I’ve had a hard round lump an inch below my belly button that’s clearly my uterus. I can feel it most in the mornings and I love to check it when I wake to feel the changes. Anyway Saturday morning it was so much smaller! Got me feeling a little worried 😟 it was back to normal today so I’m putting it out of my mind but just wanted to say I know how you feel. Think it might be called parenthood tbh xx
I discussed my anxiety with my midwife and we've agreed that I can go and see her every 2 weeks. It's a lot easier to count down 2 weeks than a whole month to hear the heartbeat and I like having the appointment in the diary to work towards, especially as they never answer the phone! It's getting a bit easier now that I can feel some kicks (I'm 21 weeks now) - although new worries about that of course when he has quiet days.
I'd suggest speaking to your midwife. They should let you go in and hear the heartbeat again. Remember that your mental health is important and it's probably taking a bit of a battering at the moment! Anything you can do to help yourself will be good for both of you and your midwife will understand that.
@HotDiggidy2017 I know what you mean about the lump moving. I kept telling myself "well it's definitely still in there somewhere". Now I am showing but sometimes my bump feels softer. At those times I feel less kicks. I think LO is just going for a wander - makes sense I guess! Or maybe it's just me imagining it!
Thank you all for replying, I feel much better knowing I’m not the only one!
It’s so odd as I know logically it should all be fine but just can’t shake the feeling...
I’m classed as a high risk pregnancy so will be seen every month from December onwards which is (in some ways!) reassuring but the second week of December feels a long way away at the moment!
