Third baby late or early..

Hi, just wondered if labours follow a pattern? My previous two were spontaneous labours and born 14 and 9 days early respectively and just curious if anyone had the same with their third or if baby was overdue?

42 wks induced
41 + 2 spontaneous
42wks induced
40wks induced for size.

So yeah I follow a pattern of babies who don't want to come out. 3rd birth was quickest and easiest though.

My first two were a week late and my third a month early. It was a shock but he was fine. Bright bouncy 5 month old now.

@BurningBenches that’s good to hear! Must say I’m feeling a little anxious as it’s been over 10 years since my last but hoping it will be easy lol

@morenachos wow that must have been really unexpected. Glad to hear baby arrived safely albeit a little earlier than planned

@Hatepickinganame fingers crossed for you. I’m hoping the same that I don’t go over but seeing these responses Im surprised just how many babies do go over due dates. All adds to the excitement I guess lol

37
35
39+4 (although she tried at 25 weeks so I was having injections from then until 37 to try & keep her in)
38+4
37+5
Final 2 I had long latent labours with hind water continually leaking & round the clock contractions from around 35 weeks. Not fun
All 5 were born back to back.

I'm 16 weeks with my first so I can't comment personally, but my mum had three:

1 day early (DD1)
3 days late (DD2)
7 days early (DS)

@PopsicleHustler that’s really surprising as has been both earlier and later each time with no rhyme or rhythm for you.

When you say all long do you mean the labours or the births?

I had a 3 day labour with my first and ended with a heavily assisted birth but my second was labouring early hours and all day and a very quick water birth. Really hoping for a repeat of my second!

@BernardsarenotalwaysSaints I’ve read that a lot that a lot of women find labour stops and starts with their third plus labours which is a scary thought as then it could go from nothing to ready to birth really quickly.

I had a back to back with my first and the pain was horrendous I really feel for you that you’ve had five like that. You sound like a superwoman! Grin

@Highheels87 yes! They put the fear of god in to me that they could be really quick & I'd need to call 999 if it ramped up quickly with my final 2. As it was I was induced with #5 because of my waters being low & put on the drip with #4 because the consultant took pity on me as I was exhausted.

Dc3 was really quick, I had a show at about 5, got to hospital at 7 & she was born at 3 minutes past 10.

I didn't find my labours overly painful but obviously because they were all back to back I can't really compare. I had pethidine early on with 1, 2, 4 & 5, just to help me get some rest before the real 'work' started. I helped because it let me get some rest but I was with it for the actual pushing & the initial cuddles.

I'm definitely not superwoman Blush I did have the others to look after though so got with it when I should probably have been resting Grin

Good luck! When are you due?

Highheels87 · 21/11/2020 22:17

@BernardsarenotalwaysSaints your third sounded like a great one, nice and short lol. I’ve never tried pethidine, I really want to try to avoid an epidural but I know anything can happen when the time comes so definitely not ruling anything out.

I’m due in February and honestly can’t wait. We are expecting a little boy after two girls and are beyond excited Grin I’m sure when the contractions hit I’ll remember why I said no more haha if only we had a crystal ball to know when baby will arrive. I do hope I don’t go over as I’m scared of induction having read how intense it can get Confused

My third flew out.

First 6hrs 39 weeks
Second 4hrs 38 weeks
Third 2hrs 40 weeks on the button!

Waiting to see what this one does. I half joked to my husband that if it's v fast I might need to him be prepared to catch and do a bit of reading ahead of time and he said something like "I'll put the foot down and get you to the hospital don't worry" 😆

@highheels87

Wow, 3 day labour. My first two were my longest. And my last two, hubby and I spent a day labouring at the house and then half a day in hospital. They say the more children you have, the quicker the labours. Definitely not in my case. Lol.

Wish you all the very best.

I'm due January

@PopsicleHustler unbelievable isn’t it. Started on Sunday morning and baby finally arrived on Wednesday. I won’t lie it was horrendous and narrowly avoided a section as I was completely exhausted. Wish you all the very best too SmileI hope that saying is true for us both and we have nice quick straightforward labours and births! Not long for you at all, exciting!
