Hello all!

I am 4 weeks pregnant and 6 days, so exciting! This is our first baby so this is all very new!

So far, no sickness but very tender boobs! When did everyone else begin the dreaded morning sickness?

Also, I have today spoken with my GP and they have prescribed higher dose of folic acid due to my weight and have told me to buy extra strong vitamin D tablets rather than taking the pregnacare I am currently taking.... anyone else had this and been okay? Slightly worried that doesn't seem enough compared to what the pregnacare tablets have in them!

I am trying to keep up walking at least half an hour a day and three gentle swims a week - what's everyone else doing?

Anybody else in the 4 week/5 week range? Looking forward to sharing this journey with others!

xxx

Hello, I'm just over 5 weeks with my 3rd, congratulations. Not everyone experiences morning sickness, I got nauseous and food aversions last week but am fine today, on my first I was nauseous from 6 weeks to birth at 37 weeks! Every person and every pregnancy varies.

I don't know about the vitamins sorry, I'm just taking folic acid.

I'm walking, jogging and doing HIIT classes mixed with a bit of weights, same as I was doing before and am determined to keep it up as long as possible.

Hey I’m 4 weeks 2 days today, also my first ☺️ I’m taking a folic acid and vitamin D combined supplement but not sure if it’s enough or not, I haven’t spoken to my GP as I self referred myself to the midwife and my booking appointment is on 30th Nov.

I have had some nausea on and off a few days but nothing bad yet. My boobs are getting more and more tender each day 😩

I’m also going for minimum half an hour walks each day! I was practically sedentary before I found out I was pregnant so need to make sure I keep active.

Congratulations as well! 🥰

@Nam095

Huge congratulations!! So so exiting! When is your due date, early July? We are 30 June and I can't wait!

My booking appointment is 24 November but looking at getting a private scan at 8 weeks because I'm not sure I can wait the whole 12 weeks!

Hope you're doing okay & feeling well - exciting times!!

Hi all can I join?
I think I am about 4.5 weeks got my bfp on Friday and it is slowly sinking in! First pregnancy and I'm definitely very anxious of it going wrong! I haven't rung the Dr yet but will at the end of the week all being well.
Have been having sore boobs, light headedness and a bit of nausea what are your areas doing about scans now? I think mine is still go in alone so I might book a private one before so Dh can come

Hi! I'm 4 weeks 5 days and also my first baby 😊 it is really exciting!

I currently don't have many symptoms, slightly tender boobs but no morning sickness either.

I was quite active before but seem really nervous to exercise, does anyone else feel like this? Feel like i need to keep active but worried!

Booked our first private scan for 16th November as too excited to wait 😊

I’m 4wks 6 days too, after my first round of IVF! My boobs have been sore for weeks but that’s more down to all the hormones I had to inject myself with.

@maudesid Hello & congrats!! Our area is allowing partners to attend the scan but not to any other appointments at the moment :( i've booked an 8 week private scan which he can attend, just because I am too impatient!

@hayjt24 Hello & congrats!! So close for due dates! Agreed...so nerve racking to keep up the exercise but my GP said today to keep up the walking and the swimming, so I am just going to keep taking it steady..roll on the scans to give us some peace of mind!!

@Sunbird24 Hello...huge huge congrats!! Same due date as well, so exciting!! How you feeling?

@dh8892 very close due dates! I was worried I didn't have many symptoms yet but glad to hear I'm not the only one with no morning sickness.

Yes, roll on the scans, I cant wait!

@dh8892 huge congrats to you too! I’m mostly just really tired and thirsty for now. The clinic have booked me in for an ultrasound on 18 Nov which should be 8wks, and after that I just switch to doing everything through ‘normal’ channels. I’m 42 and this will be my first if it sticks, but cautious optimism is the mood for the moment!!

@Sunbird24 thank goodness someone else has the thirst! I feel like I'm drinking oceans of water at the moment!

I will keep absolutely everything crossed for you

@dh8892 it’s like no matter how much water you drink your mouth is still dry isn’t it! Gone off tea and coffee as well, although I’ve only had decaf since May anyway.

@hayjt24 it's fine and absolutely recommended to keep up any exercise you've already been doing for as long as you can, or alter it later if possible. For example I'll change ab exercises at around 12 weeks but will be able to keep doing most of the weights and HIIT activities until I don't feel able to or a medical reason stops me.

@Garman thanks so much 😊 settled my mind and made me realise I need to get back into it! I usually do 7 minute workouts so may just do a couple a day instead of more! Thanks again

Glad to help Smile My gp knew I've been very active the last while and gave me a very stern/well meaning "keep up the exercise" chat when I confirmed pregnancy. It makes so much of pregnancy and birth easier if you can maintain a level of fitness. I didn't on my first and it was a tough pregnancy.

hayjt24 · 27/10/2020 20:12

@Garman thank you! I'll be sure to get back into exercise, and good to know it doesn't cause harm 😊

Hello all! Im 5 weeks tomorrow with hopefully my first baby (3rd pregnancy) im still in so much shock after finding out last tuesday, i did freak out alot because of the cramping ive been having and went to the EPU the next day thinking i was having an ectopic but after 2 blood tests she said they’re rising great so very unlikely its ectopic and the cramps have calmed down a bit now. Im going for another scan next friday at what should be 6wks2days because they didnt see anything on the scan last wednesday (4wks). Im terrified though as it took 2 years to conceive this baba after a mmc at 6wks4 in 2018. I also have endo stage 4 so my anxiety is through the roof but i definitely feel way more pregnant this time round with the cramping, sore boobs, fatigue and (sorry tmi) discharge that feels like im starting my period! If i ovulated when i think i did (7th) then im due 30th June and i have no idea how im going to keep my anxiety in check till then if all goes well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi OP, congratulations!

I’m 5 weeks + 4 days.
I spoke to my midwife on the phone last week and mentioned I was overweight, she advised me to take folic acid plus a double dose of vitamin D however she said that was due to my ethnicity not my weight so I’m not sure?

I’m also upping my walking too and I’m sticking to my twice weekly PT sessions x

Hi @Sunbird24 all ok over here! Has to go for a scan at 6 weeks due to spotting but they saw no cause for concern and baby’s heart was beating nicely! We have our 8 week scan booked for next Saturday. Morning sickness has begun (though mine is afternoon sickness!) and quite frankly I can’t wait to get out of the first trimester I feel rotten 24/7 and can’t stomach going into the kitchen... as soon as I go in there I start retching especially if the fridge is open!! Awful stuff.

How are you doing? Getting on okay? Xx

Hi.

Im 5 weeks 5 days today, my first ever pregnancy at 38! My boobs are really sore and still have a heavy feeling in uterous. The biggest thing I've noticed is my level of irritability. I could literally lose the plot of nothing. Congrats all on the good news.

Hi @Sunbird24,

Had a early scan a few weeks ago to make sure it wasn’t ectopic which thankfully baby was in the right place and saw the heart beat, im 7wks1d today and i feel awful, nausea has turned into sickness and my boobs feel so sore and im still having a few cramping pains which worries me everytime. Got another scan at 10wks on the 5th Dec!

Lots of exciting stuff going on, glad everything seems to be going well for everyone so far!

I’ve got my 8 wk scan with the clinic on Weds, and if everything is ok booking appt with the midwife on Thursday over the phone. Sore boobs, fatigue and diarrhoea (sorry, TMI!) for me, might be the progesterone gel though.

My nausea started at 6vweeks with both my pregnancies. What you've been told about folic acid and vitamin D sounds fine as those are the only vitamins you really need if your diet is ok. You will be checked for anaemia in the first trimester so if you need iron you'll be told. In my first pregnancy I was hiking in canyons in the USA on a long holiday and going on bike rides in my first trimester. This time working from home has made me very lazy but I try to walk on my days off.
