Brown spotting for over a week now

I'm 6 wks & 3 days pregnant with my first. Have had brown spotting everyday for over a week now. I had a scan at 5wks/6days as woke up with large amount of spotting which looked similar to the beginning of my period. Midwife sent me straight for a scan and got babies HB (103bpm) and everything looked fine. Since that I have had 2 nights where it has been more red than brown & watery (more fresh bleeding) rather than mucus brown. I'm so worried something is wrong! Anyone else had similar experience and how long did it take for the spotting to stop? And what would be the cause?

Hi, I think you’ve had a scan that showed a heartbeat that’s definitely a good sign. I really hope it works out for you. I had brown discharge around the same time with both my babies and they are 4 and 2 now!

I’m 9 weeks now with #3 but yesterday had a bleed. The nurse on the phone at EPU said they wouldn’t scan me at the moment but would just monitor. This is causing me to read into all sorts of symptoms though - for example I just woken up drenched in sweat which doesn’t seem like positive?! Hopefully I can encourage them to scan me soon!

I had spotting with two pregnancies that went full term. Also with an ectopic but that was nearly black blood and you've had a scan, so know your baby is in the right place. Hopefully all is well, sometimes a bit of spotting is just one of those things

Hi OP,

I had brown spotting during my first pregnancy. Started off as brown discharge around 6 weeks, but got worse (watery and frequent) by 8 weeks.

Went to A&E during a bleed, EPU scanned me and said there was no fetal pole, yolk sac visible and hence was a MMC Sad

I sadly miscarried a few days after.
I would be on the phone to them and insisting you be scanned, I know how horrible the feeling is xx

I'm 10 weeks 3 days and started a tiny bit of brown spotting on tissue after the toilet. I'm getting a scan today from epu as I had a mmc back in April. Hoping everything is fine as I had a private scan at 8 weeks and saw heart beat

I had rusty red blood for a few days after my early scan as it was vaginal, could it be that maybe?

@Cafeaulait27 thanks but I had external scan, not vaginal. Going to GP today

@Sansa87 it went well thankyou, they scanned me and said everything looked good, said they couldn't see any issue and it sometimes just happens which i guess is good news.

I had spotting everyday until 8 weeks and it suddenly stopped. I never had an explanation for it - the Drs didn’t seem bothered. They said they don’t class it as normal but it’s far from uncommon. I was a mess though! The rest of my pregnancy went well and DS is now 3mo.

@DebzM01 how was it at the GP?

I’m still getting very light brown, almost yellow spotting mixed in with clear mucus. This is two days after sex now. I think I will bring it up with the midwife on Thursday, kind of hoping she will suggest a scan so I can feel it’s been properly checked xx

@Cafeaulait27 GP sent me for another HCG test & levels are still going up so that's a good sign! Have another scan on Thurs. Have you managed to get a scan?

@DebzM01thats great news! Good luck for your scan on Thursday.

I tried calling EPU today to ask for a scan, but as I had a scan which showed a heartbeat last week they just told me to monitor things and call back if I get red or heavier bleeding.

I think when I have my booking appointment on Thursday I will insist on a scan, I really just want to make sure things are ok xx

Hi everyone, I hope it’s ok that I jump onto the thread. I’m so worried and wanted to know peoples experiences. I found out I was pregnant 3+5 days stomach cramps all day and night for a week. After that cramps died down then had red/pink spotting (only when wiped sorry TMI) that turned into brown spotting and same amount! It completely went one day. It came back yesterday brown and watery same same as before. Shortly after red blood and this time felt like a bit more. Been happening over a week now. First day speaking to midwife this week she referred me to EPU for a scan next week I’ll be 6+5 days. The GP was awful told them i’d bled said she’d get in contact with me and never did. Midwife wasn’t happy and sorted it straight away due to the cramps I’d had as well. It’s so awful that you pretty much have to sit in silence until symptoms get really bad!

I’m now 5weeks+6 days and I just don’t have a good feeling about it. Lower back ache again stomach cramps were harsh this morning. Tiny bit of brown blood but had red and brown yesterday! Red was most id had. Feeling so negative at the moment. So know exactly how you feel with the anxiety and worrying! 6 days feels like ages away...... I hope you all get the positive news you wanted to hear 💖

Hey, I should say that I miscarried the baby I’m talking about in this thread at 9 weeks. Despite having a scan at 6 weeks and seeing a HB, the brown eventually turned to red. A scan confirmed no HB anymore and I waited 5 days to miscarry naturally.

I am now pregnant again, 10 weeks and no bleeding so far although I haven’t had an early scan so no idea what’s going on in there.

I see lots of threads about bleeding where it’s all ended up ok. It could go either way xx
