@avocuddles amazing! Congratulations on beautiful India, gorgeous. Sounds like you had a rough labour, so pleased you’re both doing well xx good lucky with feeding, it does take a couple of days usually for milk to come in so keep putting her to the breast, get the latch checked and trust the colostrum

@knotemma what a story! Congratulations, Samuel is beautiful xx actually sounds like a dream labour, so much time at home! And what a great story to tell. xx

@Treaclepie19 thanks for setting up the new thread x

Ah loving these birth stories so much!

@footprintsintheslow it was quite something. I'm waiting for it to dawn on me that I get to keep him I think! I was so prepared to go overdue, definitely not how I saw things panning out but I'm thrilled and quite proud of myself for managing in the circumstances. Poor DH was definitely in a bit of shock when I went from calm and quiet to amniotic fluid all over the bathroom (like up the walls 🙈😂) and mooing like a crazy person... In hindsight i definitely would have been better off with a home birth 🤷‍♀️

@Knotemma The Mooing!!! My birth partners both said when the animalistic noises start we know it's a matter of minutes!!!

Are you home now?

Report
Knotemma · 18/09/2020 07:14

No we were kept in overnight, purely because it would have been midnight for his 6 hour checks and DH was running on 3 hours sleep. Hopefully we'll get released this morning once his checks have been done

Wow, what a wonderful influx of gorgeous new arrivals! So pleased they are all here safe and sound. @Knotemma what a story to tell! Were the midwives stunned to see you back so soon with a baby? Hope you and @anon20something get home with your boys soon. Xx

@Knotemma omg what a story! Congratulations, he is so beautiful! And I love the name ❤️ he looks so alert and awake there 😄 so when did you actually give birth, when you were 39 weeks exactly? I'm starting to get a bit worried here as everyone here so far have been early 🤣🤣 I'm fully banking on ours being late (I'm still working until the end of the month), he can't come now!! 😅😅😅😅

@Avocuddles I hope you're healing okay and that baby India (also love this name btw) is doing well 😄

@Avocuddles so sorry i forgot to mention you! Congratulations on India's arrival, beautiful name. How are you doing? X

Report
Knotemma · 18/09/2020 09:19

@Shefliesonherownwings the one who told me I'd "have to get off the floor or how else would I get there" was floored when they wheeled me in with a baby 😂

@SunStruck I was 39+1, so not too early. I was the same as you convinced I'd go over until I got about 38+4, then suddenly I felt like things were changing. I wasn't expecting him so soon, but I thought I might be around my due date after a couple of random contractions and stuff

Congratulations to all the new mummy's! Sorry I've not been around for a while, things have been a little crazy since Amelia was born (can't believe that it's been 2 weeks already!) We have had a few issues, which have made things difficult... Amelia has a posterior tongue tie which has left us struggling to feed properly. She is apparently also nocturnal and refuses to sleep on a night... She is an absolute angel during the day though (pic attached for proof lol) 🥰
All in all, other than being utterly exhausted and having a few melt down moments when Amelia has been screaming for hours on a night, we are doing ok. I still can't get over how much love I have for such a tiny little thing lol. As tough as it has been at times, I wouldn't change it or her for the world.

Congratulations again to all the graduates and good luck to everyone who is still expecting, can't wait to see your updates to join the graduates club xx

@footprintsintheslow thank you. She really is an angel during the day but has had us both in tears a few nights now lol. Keep having to remind myself that we are both learning everything together and it will get easier. Plus it's hard to stay upset around her when she smiles 🥰🥰

Sorry to change the tone but have had a bit of a rough day. Slept terribly last night with really itchy hands and feet, so got a blood test at today's midwife appointment and long story short the results show that I have a mild form of ICP, which is fine for me but carries a small risk of sudden stillbirth, with the risk increasing week by week from now. There's literally nothing they'd be able to do except induce, but my midwives are saying my levels aren't high enough to warrant that (and of course I know that induction carries a risk too). And it's obviously a good thing that they don't seem overly worried, but I've read stories of it happening in mild cases and of course my anxiety has been through the roof today. And because the risk is sudden not gradual I don't know if I should just take action whilst things are ok. It feels like I'm so close to the finish line now and I'm just so scared of losing this one when I've got so far, and I don't know whether I should push for induction, or just wait and see and maintain perspective and listen to them as the experts. Shouldn't have Googled really, the internet is scary. Sorry I really hope this isn't triggering for anyone, I just needed a safe place to be worried.

Knotemma · 18/09/2020 21:51

@Hagster sorry you're having such a tough time. It's maybe worth sitting down with the midwife to discuss benefits and risks to both approaches. You're baby is virtually fully cooked now, so induction should definitely be an option for you, especially with past history. That being said the internet is a big and scary place, so maybe steer clear of anything that isn't evidence based. Wishing you loads of good luck for the next few weeks xxx

Report
tmc14 · 18/09/2020 21:57

@Hagster agree with @Knotemma can you ask to see a consultant as well as the midwife? I completely understand you just wanting to avoid all risk and perhaps getting baby out sooner. But I find it strange that the midwife would be fine with leaving you if there was any risk at all. Mine all seem super risk averse. So they must be pretty sure you’re ok for now. Are you able to contact them on the weekend? Or just up to triage and explain your worries?
Sending a massive hug, I can imagine how stressful it is xx

@SammiLou2312 aw she’s gorgeous. Sorry the nights are so rough. Are you able to get the tongue tie sorted? I know a lot of the clinics are still closed, my friend recently had to pay a private clinic to get her baby sorted and improve feeding, but it was definitely worth it for them. Such a tough thing to work through. Try and rest in the day as much as possible if that’s that Amelia is doing. She’ll figure night & day at some point x

@SammiLou2312 she's beautiful! Day and night are definitely confusing concepts I'm not sure I know which is which at the moment!

I've had about 5 hours of broken sleep and feel like a new woman. Hoping to get another couple of hours in now that Samuel is back down after his feed. I've got the point of nipple pain in breast feeding 🙈 had to use my up breathing from PCB to help with this last feed, but at least he seems to be getting enough and is content. His latch isn't great and I'm not really sure how to fix it, hoping to speak your the midwife tomorrow when they come to do his heel stick test. I did talk to them at the hospital but I was so knackered is just didn't go in 😂.

@avocuddles it's crazy that we had Samuel and India on the same day, after this long journey together. There have been many days where I don't know what I'd have done without this group and I can't thank you enough for starting us off on this journey together. Hopefully your feeding journey gets easier over the next few days.
