Uterine artery doppler scan

Can anyone let me know what they do on this scan, well what they check, obviously they check uterine artery but do they measure baby again?

I'm having one next week when I'll be 23 weeks, apparently they can use it to predict potential further problems with growth etc

Having it because my daughter dropped percentiles before being born

I had one. They were looking for notches that indicate likely later pre eclampsia I don’t think they measured growth. I did get a bonus 3D look at baby’s face just because the doctor was feeling nice! Good luck

I had this and they did measure the baby. I’ve since had 3 more growth scans and will continue to until the end of pregnancy. Tbh it’s nice to be checked regularly for extra reassurance x

Yes me, doppler scans every 2 weeks to make sure blow is flowing correctly through the cord, not sure about your trust but where I live growth isn't usually looked at until 28 weeks plus, im on baby number 4 with all previous babies SGA and growth scans have never started until 28 weeks x

Uterine artery Doppler check is different from umbilical artery check, which is what previous poster meant. Uterine artery is only done once, and depending on result a decision is made on number of follow up growth scans (which is when they will do umbilical artery).
In my Trust we do uterine same time as the anomaly scan, so no extra scans involved. In your case it will depend on their protocol, but your anomaly will have to have been over 2 weeks ago for them to do a growth scan too.
That's the explanation out the way, hope you enjoy seeing your baby again, however they do it Smile

@overwork thank you, my anomaly scan will have been 3 weeks ago by the time I have this scan, I was just curious if they measured baby again just to see if baby had grown as it should in 3 weeks for example, either way I get to see baby again which I love lol

I already have growth scans pre booked in for 32,35 and 38 weeks with the usual sonographers but this scan is done by a consultant

You're welcome, if it's with a consultant I have no idea what they will do as they don't necessarily work to the protocols that sonographers have to follow. Either way I'm sure it will be lovely!
