Hi ladies

I’m 21 weeks pregnant, I have this continuous pelvic groin pain it’s not really really painful where I am unable to move but I’ve noticed when I’m lying down.. walking or getting up from a chair out of the car the pain is unbearable it’s right in the centre of my pelvis/groin area.. has anyone experienced this before ? What could it be? Is it worth seeing my gp??

Many thanks

If baby is lying low and having a growth spurt then ligament pain can be really painful. However you may have a UTI or something else going on, so always best to check with your GP or MW just to rule anything sinister out

Symphysis pub is pain is most likely, particularly if it's related to physical activity, I. E. Eases when you rest or find a comfortable position, worsens when you move

Sometimes it takes me few moments to get up or out of bed coz the pain can be quite bad..

Sounds like it could be SPD / PGP. Does it hurt when you stand on one leg like when you're getting dressed, rolling over in bed, getting out of the car?
If so then rest rest rest. I was in agony with this a few weeks back and took a whole week off sick and did nothing but lay down and it's not come back since!

Yes it hurts doing all the above.. especially rolling over in bed or getting out or up from a chair seat etc.. I think I’m over doing it but it’s hard with a 4year old as she hasn’t started reception yet I’m hoping once she is settled and started I can actually get some rest..

Have a look at the pelvic partnership website for hints and ideas. They also have a list of recommended physios/chiropractors/osteopaths who can help.

It'll only get worse the more you push yourself.

The nhs will send you to a group physio session. It will be useless for you if you've already read the pelvic partnership tips.

Much better for you to skip the nhs and go straight to someone who will manipulate the joints who has training, experience of pgp. Go straight to the list on pelvic partnership. Save the grief, pain, time.

Ugh I'm going through this too. I spoke to my midwife, she said I had pgp and a physio called me.
Really painful when I roll over in bed too its horrible, not really too much that can be done. I was offered crutches but I'm not too bad. And I'm 35 weeks now so hopefully not much longer for me.
Speak to your midwife or GP :) they will help x

It's SPD. I'm on my second pregnancy with it. NHS website gives recommendations for managing it, don't bother with gp, you can self refer for physio in most areas.
