Masks and morning sickness

I'm in Wales and we now enforced to wear masks and I'm really struggling. Within 5 mins I feel sick and faint.
I've only used those cheap blue and black pound shop throw away ones so far.
Does anyone have this issue and did you find a mask that didn't make you feel ill and suffocated?
I think it's the morning sickness causing it and just making it worse.
My mat leave finishes in Nov so will be wearing a mask all day. Need a mask I can use for hours by then!

It might sound daft but could you opt for a visor instead?

If your mat leave finishes in Nov, are you currently pregnant with a second?

You may qualify for an exemption with hyperemesis.

I didn't think of a visor 😳. Baby brain!
I've not seen public wearing visors, only people dealing with food.
Would it be accepted for shops. Will ask work about use of visor.
Yes pregnant again but not suffering that severely with morning sickness. Just the normal constant nausea but worse breathing on my own reused air 🤣😵.

Those throw away masks are not that pleasant to wear at all, a visor is a good idea or cloth ones.

I have several hand made cotton ones that can be chucked in the washing machine and they are far nicer.

Dm made a couple and the others made by a local person which they sell at our local farmers market.

I second a cloth one, I've got one that goes round the back of my head rather than my ears and I find that easier too, something about it putting less pressure on my actual face makes me feel less nauseous. Also I seem to fidget with them less than the cheapy ones that don't seem to fit right!

@MrsxRocky I feel your pain! It’s definitely not pleasant wearing them all day 😓 I work 9 hour shifts in retail 5 days a week and have to wear a mask and a visor at all times except on my half hour lunch break. Currently 33 weeks pregnant and feel like I have about a third of my lung capacity left so its becoming a bit of a struggle!

I found chewing gum or having mints helps. Was the scan department who recommended it when I went for 12 week scan!

I hate wearing masks and they make me feel faint too. I can just about bear it for the duration of the supermarket shop! For some reason I find it more bearable if I chew gum at the same time.
I’m a teacher, and since returning have worn a visor at work all day - it really is a game changer!

For masks either gum, mints or a drop of essential oil (tea tree, lavender) put in a few hours before wearing and allowed to dry could help. It depends where you work as to whether a visor is acceptable, in my NHS trust we can't wear them alone, they're more for the protection of the clinicians when doing examinations on patients who can't wear masks. My understanding is that visors offer more the wearer the protection than the prevention of wearer spreading.
We all have to have a risk assessment before working though and your issue would definitely be something of note, will you have a risk assessment before returning? My nieces in retail did but less comprehensive than mine, if you have one you could speak to HR or Occy Health privately to bring it up?
It depends on your role I suppose.
