Boy or girl? Help!!

Hi everyone so at my 12 week scan the sonographer pretty confidently said that we are having a baby girl. I then went for a private gender scan at 16 weeks and they said it’s a boy. I have attached a couple of photos - in one i can see boy bits but the other I can’t? So I am questioning if the boy bits could be the cord or something? What does everyone think? Don’t have my next scan till 21 weeks and I’m dying to know!!!!

12 weeks is too early to tell, and usually if they’ve seen boy bits their pretty accurate

16 weeks is going to be a lot more accurate than 12 weeks. Did the sonographer go off "nub" theory at 12 weeks as that early the nub is almost identical between boys/girls it's just that usually the nub rises a few days later and indicates a boy?

That being said loads of private "gender" scans are also wrong

@ivfbeenbusy I don’t know to be honest just seemed very confident. I think it’s because I have this feeling it’s a girl. Looking at the above scan though would you think boy?

I’d be inclined to believe the 16 week scan, they really look like boy parts, the second picture is way too zoomed out to tell but the first picture looks pretty conclusive. Tbh it’s massively irresponsible for the sonographer to have even guessed at such an early gestation, unfortunately looks like you’ll have to wait a few weeks🙈

I'm really surprised your sonographer said anything at all about the sex at 12 weeks. It would be impossible for them to tell - the genitals haven't developed by then! Going on nub theory would be really irresponsible of an actual medical professional as there's no evidence for it... my baby boy had the girliest nub going at 13 weeks. That first picture looks pretty clearly like a boy, and at 16 weeks a sonographer can actually tell whereas at 12 weeks it would basically be a 50:50 guess.

Most private clinic sonographers will have a guess at 12 weeks - don't know any in NHS scans that have done so. I had a private scan at 13 weeks and the sonographer guessed a boy for one twin and he reckoned boy for the other twin but the nurse reckoned girl. Did NIPT testing which cam back boy and a girl. Although I'm still wary of believing the results and will wait until 20 weeks to be sure 🤣

Yeah I was surprised to. It was an NHS scan at Kings and they asked if I wanted to know the gender so I said ok and they said it’s a girl really confidently. I agree 16 week one is more likely to be accurate I just think ever since I found out I was pregnant I have thought it was a girl so was surprised to hear boy. But will be amazing whatever I have as long as they are happy and healthy!
