4+4 and early pregnancy symptoms seem to have disappeared

Hello!

I am 4+4, found out a week ago with an early test
Went for some tests ‘down there’ and she said my cervix was high up so alarm bells rang and I took a test... sure enough I’ve had BFPs for a week now....

Since then I have had mild cramping in lower abdomen, headaches, bloating and really sore boobs.. most of them during the night! I have woke up and bam, they have gone. They aren’t here.

Is this normal? I have read posts saying they are, but I dunno if I just wanna hear it direct to me.
I am worrying so much as I told my mam the news last night and she sobbed with happiness. Now worried ive jinxed it by telling early 😭 but I physically could not keep it from her any longer.. we are so close!

Any reassurance or advice is much needed :) thanks! Xx

Hi @BessieBye, I'm 6 weeks and have had very little symptoms until the last day or two so I wouldn't worry! It's hard not to symptom pick and wonder what's going on and if everything is ok! You're still very early so I'm sure your time will come haha! Then you'll miss these days.

4+4 is very early to have any symptoms. The ones you had may not have been pregnancy related-finding out too early is not good for mental health, just prolongs the anxiety.

I had no pregnancy symptoms until about 8 weeks and they were very mild. I developed nausea at 12 weeks! There is no normal. All you can do is wait and see. Pregnancy is very much about the anxious wait at every stage tbh!

Hi!
I'm 4w+4 days today too! Congratulations!
So far I've had headaches, hot flushes, insomnia and slight nausea particularly at night. I've heard it's pretty normal for symptoms to come and go. Try not to worry too much, I know it's easier said than done! Xx

Morning guys.. thanks so much for these comments.
@ScottishStardust ahh I know, it’s weird that I’m WANTING symptoms haha! I also know some women get hardly any, my best friend didn’t have any symptoms apart from not fancying a coffee! Take care and congrats xx

@DontFadeAway wow look at that! Exact se! Congrats to you too! I have had the same; headaches and hot flushes but at night time. Same as the sore boobs... weird isn’t it! I have heard that too but I’m such a chronic over thinker it’s unbelievable 🤣 my first pregnancy too so I have no idea what to expect.

@Megan2018 I did think could those symptoms be following implantation, but didn’t think they’d last a week!

@BessieBye we are so similar too! My first pregnancy also! How funny 🙊 I totally get what you mean thought, overthinking everything! I'm also a real organised/planning person so I like to have everything ready and set up etc. I'm phoning the GP tomorrow to make the first contact and tell them I'm pregnant 🙊

I haven't really had sore boobs too much yet, but I've had an upset stomach every morning 👀 (sorry for TMI!) The headaches have been the main symptom though, almost constant and always there!xx

@DontFadeAway ah would be great to keep in touch throughout this! May babies! 🤞🏻

I rang my GP the day after I had a BFP, for some reason I really thought GP confirmed pregnancy??! To my surprise GP didnt even need to know, just believe what the test says haha. My details got sent to a midwife who rang me the next day to say she got them and she’ll be in touch when I’m 8-10wks!

Ahhh I have too!! I read constipation is an early sign but I have had the opposite. Maybe it’s nerves/excitement? Have had trapped wind/gassy cramps too but also putting down to nerves. But progesterone increasing rapidly does cause all these things!!

Good luck with your doctors appt! Xx

@BessieBye it would be amazing to keep in touch! Expected due date is 16th May - yours must be very similar if not the same? ♥️

That's good to know about the GP - thank you! The only reason I'm phoning tomorrow is that I don't work Fridays, and I work with my mum... so I haven't had any time away from her to make the call! We're not going to tell her until I'm 7 weeks (luckily I've only got one more week working with her before she goes on holiday.) it's quite early to tell her but I think as we work so closely together she's going to work it out anyway!!

Yes completely agree about the cramps/being gassy! So many hormones floating round! I'm taking Seven Sea's pregnancy vitamins but will need extra folic acid as I've got a high BMI!

Not sure about you, but some days the fatigue is unreal! I have a pretty full on job anyway but I got home yesterday and could've quite easily fallen asleep sitting up! 🤣

@DontFadeAway yes 16th May!! We must have had same AF same cycle length WTF! Madness 😂! Love it!

Plus, I also have BMI over 30. Are we the same person? I do need to get in touch with GP about folic acid actually, I have been taking the normal dosage for 6 months but will definitely ask about the higher one.

Aww so lovely about your Mam! I am excited for you to tell her. Let me know how it goes!! Eek! We told my Mam last night, reason being; we have events planned for the next 4 weeks where we will be celebrating/drinking. She would just guess why I wasn’t drinking and I wanted to make a memorable moment for them. Also, even though I don’t want to think the worst, if the worst DID happen, she would have to know anyway as I’d need the support. So I weighed it up in my mind and thought I have a higher chance of a successful pregnancy so why not tell her now. I would regret it so much if I had a healthy pregnancy and didn’t make a song and dance out of being pregnant. I have had worries and anxieties but at the end of the day I keep telling myself ‘today I am pregnant and no one can take that away from me!’

I haven’t felt too tired actually, I’ve been sleeping from about 11pm-6am then I’m up early wishing it was bed time by about 10am 😂 xx

Hi!

I'm 4+5 today with my first. It's so hard not to worry isn't it!

I've had sore boobs which has gone today but the today I've been retching a lot. Deep down I know beans still in there but every small change has you thinking doesn't it!

I've had a bit of a headache and a bit of cramps but not like af cramps a bit more like I need the loo. I'm still feeling those today and I need to eat breakfast earlier than normal the last couple of days.

Hey @Twinkletoes85!! Congratulations 🥳 👶🏼

Sounds like we’re all having really similar symptoms/thoughts for our first pregnancy. Which is a relief! I have tried not to take a test this morning. I have become obsessed and it’s not healthy.. I took a clear blue digital on Sunday and it said 2-3 weeks and I thought that would’ve 100% reassured me but..... 😂 trying my best anyway! Now my Mam & Sister know, I have someone to talk about it with, so should ease my worries.

My mam said ‘25 year ago when I had you, there was no such thing as 12 week rule, we only got a 20 week scan so please don’t worry’. And she’s right! I’m gonna try and enjoy it incase I regret spending more time worrying than enjoying it xxx

Take care xxx

@BessieBye congratulations to you too! (Sorry should have said that first!)

It's a weird time isn't it because everything has changed but then nothing has changed too. My mum knows and she said the same when she had me there wasn't any tracking your ovulation or apps or digital tests. I've seen my 20 week scan photo and they had to label what's my head and what's my bum as it's so unclear 😂

I made the mistake of testing very diluted afternoon wee with an online cheapie the day after I got my bfp. I did get a line but it was so faint. So I dropped more money on proper tests to do the next day. So now I'm not doing anymore tests even though I've got my digital one as I think it'll just worry me more. I'm 34 so already a bit concerned.

I've been prodding my boobs all morning and they feel tender again now so I feel better haha

Wishing you a healthy and happy 9 months!

@Twinkletoes85 ahh try not to worry about your age! Sooooo many women have such healthy pregnancies and babies. My Aunty fell pregnant at 38.. her 7 year old is now the cheekiest, healthiest most beautiful girl! She had an amazing pregnancy with hardly any symptoms, her only symptom was craving Mr Kipling Angel Slices at 3am! 😂

If I get any symptoms like that I am literally going to be like a house end. I’m not gonna be able to move 😂

Yes I’ve used internet cheapie tests and couple of days they were fainter than previous days, then got darker so I’ve realised it’s time to PUT. THEM. DOWN. Haha! 🤣

It’s just cos we care and so excited ❤️ Wishing you so much health and happiness! Xx

Hey guys.. I also have another symptom I was meant to share and wondered if anyone else had it.

You can see all the blood vessels in my boobs! It’s quite strange. It looks mottled.. I’ve read that veins can become more visible but not vessels 😬 I do have ginormous boobs to start with! 😂

@BessieBye I'm actually convinced we're the same person 😂 that's so funny! I'm terrified about my booking in app because of my BMI but lots of lovely ladies on here have told me not to worry!

That's so exciting that you've told your mum, I bet she was over the moon? I'm just deciding how to tell my parents, we're going away next weekend and I was thinking of wrapping up a baby grow and saying we got them a present whilst we were away, and giving it to them when they're back from their holiday the week after. I'll be 7 weeks!

It will be lovely to keep in touch and compare symptoms & experiences. Where are you based? I'm in the South East! ♥️

@DontFadeAway ah yes try not to worry, there will be so many women in the same position as us!

I live in the North East (thought your might’ve guessed by me saying ‘Mam’ 😉 ha ha) so quite a while away!

That sounds like a wonderful idea. I am excited for you! They will be over the moon!

We done this for my Mam, Dad & Sister...

Morning @DontFadeAway!

For the last 2 mornings I have felt like I have a bad hangover 😬 my headaches have been sooo bad on a morning and feel like I’ve got a ‘furry tongue’ - something I’d get after night on the pop!! I start to feel completely normal come lunch time though.

My sore boobs have started to die down - I am hoping this is normal.... Sad

How are you?! Xx

@BessieBye oh bless you! I know exactly what you mean. I hope you've been taking it easy when you've felt rubbish!

I'm doing okay thank you! The occasional headache, I'm always tired and a funny tummy in the morning 🤢💩 no sickness yet 🤞🏼

I've actually felt a little more "normal" over the last couple of days which made me worry slightly but I believe it's normal for symptoms to come and go!

I registered with the midwife yesterday, just waiting for an appointment for booking in and for my scan letter in the post! 🙊

BessieBye · 12/09/2020 09:57

@DontFadeAway ahhh wonderful!! Yes I’m waiting for the same. Wonder if we have the same booking/scan dates as well? 🤣 wouldn’t that be weird!

We are officially 5 weeks pregnant tomorrow!

I have been feeling more normal too, I have been worried that I jinxed it by telling family the news :( but that’s only for about half an hour then I try to shake it off and go back to being positive!!

Enjoy your weekend! Xx

Hello @BessieBye !! I hope you’re well darling! How funny, I thought about you the other day too.

How are things? How are you feeling?

Since we last spoke, I’ve spoken to the GP and have been prescribed higher dose folic acid due to my BMI, I have also registered with midwife, just waiting for booking in app to be confirmed and first scan letter in the post! GP actually corrected my dates and it seems I am two days further along than first thought, so I am 6w+3 today, EDD 14th May! This will probably all change again after dating scan 😅

I’ve been doing alright up until yesterday then the nausea has hit me like a bus! Wow, all day and most of the night, I haven’t actually been sick yet, but even the thought of certain foods (like scrambled egg, which I usually LOVE) make me want to puke!! 🤢🤢

My parents left for their holiday today, and we’re going to tell them on Sunday when they’re back 😬😬 I’ll be 7w+2 then. Need to tell my mum before we start working together again on Monday and I’m feeling sick all the time 😂

I hope you’re well.. looking forward to your response ♥️ Lots of love xx

@DontFadeAway oh wow!!! That’s sooo exciting, the nervous butterflies will start soon before you tell them 😆 I say nervous.. I don’t know why I got nervous. Maybe it was excitement that felt like nerves? Anyway, that will be such a fabulous moment for you all. So excited for you ❤️❤️

Really nice that you work so closely with your Mum too. She will not be able to let go of you!!!

I also got prescribed my high dosage of folic acid last week.. it’s weird that they are smaller than the usual tablets 😂 my best friend had a ‘high risk’ pregnancy due to high BMI 4 years ago and she said all that was different was she got more scans. Which is a good thing! Get to see baby more!

I’m booked in with my Midwife 28th Sept. She rang me Friday. Thought it was a bit early as I’ll only be just gone 7wks! But I’m really excited to get the ball rolling.

Oh no, I have also been suffering from nausea. Usually in the mornings.. I hate being sick, it makes me cry.. so I’m hoping I don’t actually vomit! I love spring onions.. yesterday in my salad... had to pick them all out cos they made me feel ill! Weird isn’t it?

Apart from that I’m all good. Well apart from us in the North East got put back on local lockdown, so I had a bit of a wobble last week. So scared about maternity services being restricted again.. Sunderland Royal have only JUST allowed partners back into 12/20wk scans :(. Trying not tot think about it too much yet.

And glad to hear you’re all good too, besides the sickness. I hope that doesn’t last too long!! Take care of yourself, which I am sure you already are ❤️❤️❤️❤️

@BessieBye thank you! ♥️

Oh I’m so pleased you’ve got a date already, down here they won’t let you complete the online form until you’re 6 weeks, then you have to wait a week for it to be processed, then you have to ring to arrange an appointment 😂 I’m going to call Thursday when I’ll be 6+6! And you’re absolutely right about the extra scans being a bonus! I’m just still scared of being judged or told off about my weight. Although GP was lovely on the phone and didn’t really bat an eye lid, especially when I explained my dramatic weight loss so far this year! Maybe the sickness will help me lose a few more pounds!!

I’m pretty convinced we are the same person 😂 I am phobic of being sick! To the point my body holds it in! Honestly just the thought of puking makes me feel 10x worse. I’m sure most of it is my mind!! How funny about your spring onions!! I’m just living on dry carbs.. although just managed some peas with my dinner!

So sorry to hear you’re in local lockdown again, that must be so tough mentally. I’m telling myself already OH won’t be allowed to the scan, so if it turns out he can come, it’ll be a real bonus. But it really is such a difficult time 😓 I hope you’re coping with it okay though, and you know where I am if you ever want a chat!!xxx

Report
BessieBye · 21/09/2020 22:46

Ahh try not to worry about your weight! I was a bit anxious and embarrassed but once I told her she was like ‘thank you, next question!’ and I felt v comfortable straight away.

They shouldn’t judge and 99% of times they won’t judge. At least you know you’ve got me here, going through the exact same.. just think of that when you think like you’re the only pregnant lady with a higher BMI 😄 you’re not alone! 😘

Ah I’m plodding on with this lockdown malarkey. It’s really p-ing me off, but what can I do?! I have to be reminded that I am now classed as ‘vulnerable’ and should be looking after myself, but quite hard when I still can’t quite fully believe I’m pregnant!😉

I really hope your partner can go with you. If you can, maybe it is worth paying for a private scan? I totally understand not everyone can do that as it is extra money, but it did cross my mind if my OH wasn’t allowed to be with me. Window to the Womb near me are allowing one other person in, so that’s my back up plan!

Also, if you use Instagram, I am following a page called thedouladirectory

Women all across the country are campaigning for maternity rights and for partners to be allowed access to all maternity services. They have a link in their bio where you can see every trust in the country and what they are allowing. I think they update twice a week. I have signed a few petitions and they’re getting their local MPs to fight for it in House of Commons. Even if I wasn’t pregnant, I’d be passionate about it.
It is totally unfair that you can’t have a partner with you for the entire birth, when I literally live with him and sleep in the same bed as him every night!!

Sorry about all my rambling there lol. Xxx
