Something else on scan

Hi everyone! Got my first BFP just over 3 weeks ago and it’s already been a rollercoaster. Just wanted to share my experience so far as I’d like to know if anyone else has had similar. Had some excruciating pain the night before which woke me up and prompted me to take a test. Had a telephone appointment with my doctor and been at the hospital for multiple tests already, was surprised they suggested so early on. Had blood tests every two days as they weren’t convinced my hormones were increasing enough, but they started to go up properly thankfully.

So I’ve had two internal ultrasounds so far, the latest one being nearly two weeks ago, they showed me the sac and my little bean’s heartbeat which was amazing, but they did say they saw something else on the scan but they can’t quite tell what it is and that might be the cause of the amount of pain I’ve been having. They said to expect spotting incase it passes, which freaked me out a little but they reassured me that it wasn’t to do with my bean. Got a scan on Thursday so fingers crossed it won’t need to be an internal one and they can figure out what else is going on in there!

Just curious if anyone else has ever had anything similar? A few people I’ve mentioned this to said because I’ve had pregnancy symptoms earlier than most then it could be down to twins but I don’t know if there is any evidence to that or not, and if that’s the case perhaps the other bean didn’t make it. I really have no clue but just trying to stay positive. Thanks in advance ladies Smile

My scans indicated fibroids. I'd try not to worry too much and wait and see.

My initial thought was twins, and like you say maybe one didn't make it.

I had an ultrasound years ago (unrelated to pregnancy) and I have a funny shaped uterus. I had to see a specialist and it took them a long time to work out what it was...it could just be that you're anatomy is slightly different to the norm. (That wouldn't explain the pain though!)

When they said they saw something else on the scan, did they show you as well? I hope you get your answer quickly so you can enjoy your pregnancy, and congratulations Smile

@GrimDamnFanjo I’m really trying not to worry, recently been diagnosed with HG so that just adds to the pile. Hoping it’s just something simple and nothing to worry about 😊

@KimMarie34 Yeah I have a backwards tilting womb, it runs in my family. I found out a few years ago when they were doing an internal ultrasound for possible cysts. Everything from having those scans to getting a smear is even more awkward cos of it but hey-ho 🤣

@HarrisonFived They did show me, the picture they gave me wasn’t a very good photo of the other thing, I think it was what I circled in red in the picture I’ve attached. Main thing is there is a healthy bean with a heartbeat next to it 😍 Thank you! Despite what I’m physically feeling it still doesn’t seem real yet.

Congratulations! I hope everything goes well and they find out what it is on the scan...have they suggested what it might be?

At my 12 weeks scan they noted I had a subchorionic hematoma - which they kept an eye on it with regular scans throughout- little lady was born perfectly healthy 8lb9oz in late march this year....the only symptom I had with it was bleeding and pain/PMS symptoms (I didnt realise I was pregnant till I was 11 weeks gone!)

Hope everything goes well tomorrow xx

@ElleyBear13 Thank you! And congrats on your baby girl 🥰 They didn’t say what they thought it could be, I don’t know whether that was on purpose incase it would make me worry more like mad if it could potentially be something bad. Who knows but fingers crossed I find out tomorrow. I had bad pain at around 4-5 weeks, which is why I’ve had so many hospital visits for such an early stage. Reckon I’m about 6-7 weeks at the moment but also hoping they can tell me for sure tomorrow, I wasn’t long off the pill before me and my partner starting trying, so my cycle hadn’t even started to regulate properly 😅 Thank you for sharing your positive experience, helps reassure me! ☺️

I had a scan at 6 weeks and the sonographer mentioned something else caught her eye but looked again and couldn’t see anything so said there is only one. I’m 12 weeks tomorrow and have a pretty decent bump here for my first time so I’m thinking there may actually be two in there!!

@Bearcub01 That was what my gut instinct is telling me but who knows! Ooh that is super exciting! Got everything crossed for you! 🥰

Hey guys! Just wanted to post an update since I had a scan today. I’m 8 weeks which I didn’t even know! Thought it was earlier on than that. They couldn’t see anything else on the scan today, the nurse did say it’s easy to miss a twin at this stage so could be that but they did also mention it was more than likely a hematoma, even though I’ve had no bleeding. Thanks for the advice and replies, it really helped me out and hopefully this thread will reassure someone else if they go through something similar! 🥰
