Hi all I got sent for a growth scan at 31 weeks 3 days baby was estimated at just under 3 lbs. they plotted it on my chart and it showed that baby is under the 10th centile I've got to be re scanned in 2 weeks time. Has anyone had similar experience? What was the outcome? Anyone been re scanned and baby caught up?? Thanks in advance xx

My friend had this. She went on maternity leave slightly early and the baby grew. She had a v busy job and whether resting more made a difference, I don't know. It might be a coincidence.

3lb at this point is small but not awful. I was a 4lb baby and early and I'm fine. I get its worrying so telling you to not stress won't help and the hospital is keeping an eye on you, so that's good.

Firstly try not to worry they need to do scans 2 weeks apart to see if the baby is following the line this is how they tell the difference between growth restiction and a naturally small baby. They will probably do doppler scans to ensure the placenter is working properly. If they feel there is reason for concern you may be induced early. I was induced at 36 week with my daughter she was estimated to be 4lb but was actually 5lb7oz and is absolutly fine and is now much bigger than anyone expected.

@Kendrick12 Just wondering how you're getting on? I've recently had a similar experience with baby being under 3lbs at my 31 week growth scan x

Just to update you all. Baby was born at 34 weeks, by emergency c section, he had his chord wrapped around his neck so stopped moving and was in distress. As far as the growth was concerned he carried on the centile the next scan I had so they left me for a further 2 weeks but I never made it to that scan. However he was born at 5lbs 1 at 34 weeks so actually not that small at all! Hope all goes well with you x

@Kendrick12 Thanks so much for updating. What a terrifying experience that must have been.
Congratulations on your little one! I really hope you are both doing well. Sounds like he was a good weight! xx

I had the same and she was 6lb 12oz when she was born. The only intervention I had was an iron infusion as my levels were so low. Now they think there's a chance of a small baby they'll be monitoring the situation, I hope you don't worry too much xx

@littleposh just out of curiosity did they let you go full term? And what centile was she growing on? Glad to hear all went well with a good birth weight for your little one! x
