I’m 26 weeks and starting mine in a fortnight. It’s probably a bit early but we have major renovations happening in the next couple of months so I’m trying to get it sorted before that all kicks off!

I'm planning on doing mine in the next month (I'm 15 weeks) but I do all the decorating in my house and am pregnant with twins and so fat already and can't leave it as late as I did last time - plus I've got more than one bedroom to decorate as having to shuffle older child into a smaller bedroom to accommodate the twins 🤦‍♀️😬

Early like 18 weeks because I wasnt working due to Covid. I had planned to start later but I'm glad I didn't because you never know how you will feel later on, it's good to get the decorating done!

6 months after DS1 was born. He was in with me til then - no need for another room for him. Both boys slept with me til they were 7m old.

DS is now 18 months and I still haven't finished decorating his nursery, oops! I didn't actually do much to it until he was 4 months old as he was in our room anyway until 6 months (and I was lazy), but I wish id have at least popped a comfy chair in there for a change of scenery when feeding or reading sometimes.

I started at 29 weeks but wish I'd done it earlier as - typical! - all my energy disappeared and the third trimester exhaustion came down that same week, all co-inciding with a worsening of pelvic girdle pain. My fault for being so complacent that I felt really good and active in the latter half of the second trimester...

DS was about 11 months old before we started decorating his room. He’s 2 this month, and DD is due in November (they’ll share eventually as we live in a tiny house), and it’s still not completely finished.

The concept of a nursery is completely lost on me. They can’t sleep in it until at least 6 months so it’s just a dumping ground for baby clothes really, and if you decorate if for a baby you’ll get a couple of years out of it before it looks weird and you have to do it again.

DD is 23 months and we’re only just starting to change the spare room into her room 😂

I'll be about 26 weeks when we start ours, we're moving in a week or so then have a decorator to do the whole house! I like having the nursery ready before they are born, gives somewhere to store their clothes etc and somewhere quiet to go to settle them. Have fun doing it!

We turned my office into nursery of sorts at 38+5, she was born the next day.... We had to wait for me to have my last day at work (38+4) otherwise we probably would have done it about 36 weeks. If we have next time I won't be leaving it so late!

I'm 27 weeks and starting it now but the room is being completely replastered, redecorates, recarpeted etc. I know the baby will be in with us for the first 6 months but will just be so lovely to have it done and to find a home for everything as we've got delivery boxes piling up all over the place. Will also be nice to have a room to get the baby changed, dressed, spend time with her etc.

Almost 23 weeks and I haven't even started. I have not even bought a single item for the baby. Nothing at all. I am too scared of my 28 week scan which is in October and going to wait till then. They said there might be some complications with the baby which they want to clear in that scan so I am desperately waiting for that scan. I can't wait to start baby shopping and just being happy. Too worried all the time.

@yikesanotherbooboo I can't talk for others but my "nursery" contains a chest of drawers for her clothes. A side table for changing stuff and toys that have been given too her. We also have a chair to sit and nursing. Not so much of a nursery more a room to store baby stuff. We weren't worried so much about setting it up as a nursery more removing stuff that won't be used and will be needed to be removed at some point.

I agree with whoever it was that I once saw describe a nursery as being 'a shrine to what you thought having a baby would be like'. I live in a 2 bed flat and to be honest it's been much more useful to let the second bedroom as a guest room that my dad can stay in when he visits - to the extent that I'm rather dreading the day when the baby does eventually move into it, and intend to put it off for as long as possible!

we had the painting done at about 16 weeks and the furniture in since a bit past 20 weeks, being stuck in the house motivated us to do it early.

I know a lot of people will say that there's no point doing it until baby is here, but personally I'd have found that a nightmare. Since DS was born I've rarely had much time to myself (excluding when he's at nursery and I'm working anyway), so god knows how I'd have found time to decorate a room if I hadn't done it before he arrived.

That aside, we've actually used the room loads even though he doesn't sleep in there yet. It has a changing table, which I fill with his clothes and I've never changed him anywhere else in the house (lots of trips up and down the stairs when he was small, but all good exercise). Also have a cotbed for him, a wardrobe and lots of his toys, so he'll often play in there when we're upstairs doing other things.

I think we decorated when I was around 20 weeks, but I was still finishing off bits and pieces upto the week he was born
