Pregnancy anxiety and anterior placenta

I'm nearly 19 weeks with second baby and found out at 16 weeks that I have an anterior placenta which I didn't have with my daughter. I haven't been feeling movements, felt a few things I thought could be baby but nothing thats repetitive and its causing me so much anxiety 🤦‍♀️ I just want to know my baby is okay, midwife is useless, won't see me in person because of restrictions, triage won't do anything because its still early so I'm stuck!

After 3 miscarriages in the last year I am terrified of losing my baby, i know they don't mean I will but the fear is still there daily! 🤦‍♀️

Anyone with an anterior placenta tell me when they first felt movements please?

I'm 30 weeks now with an anterior placenta and I have worried all the way through. I wouldn't worry at 19 weeks baby is still sooo tiny and ur placenta will be cushioning all her tiny kicks, I asked my consultant at 19'weeks and even she said it can be far too early for any kicks yet and that's with our without an anterior placenta! You may feel the odd bubble or tapping at this stage but I honestly wouldn't even monitor them until 24 weeks. Even if you rang up to be monitored they would probably tell you not to come in. Honestly I can express enough how I was exactly the same! I didn't feel her properly until 24/24 weeks and I still get quiet days! Xx

I have an anterior placenta and up to 26/27 weeks movements were "irregular". I have phoned to be checked once but baby still has lots of space and changes in position can mean you don't feel them. My midwife says 27 weeks onwards they would do additional scans if necessary, and only really from them is there a pattern due to baby's brain development x

@AlviesMam thank you for your reply, do you go get checked on your quiet days? I had reduced movements with my daughter at the end and was induced at 37 weeks because of it and reduced growth also, worried I'm not gonna be able to feel him move much and have to be checked out often 🤦‍♀️

I’m so sorry you’re feeling so anxious. It’s completely understandable with your history. Sending some love and support your way!

I have an anterior placenta too and I didn’t feel the first “definite” movements until about 24 weeks. Hopefully this and other people’s experiences gives you a little comfort and reassurance Flowers

@EllieJai44 I have been monitored twice but only got monitored after 24 weeks and tried to calm my worries about movement before then. I could go a day or two without movement before 24 weeks. After that I feel her most days and it's only got more consistent from 27 weeks!
I'd ring up for reduced movement after 24 weeks but if you feel you get into a kind of pattern before then and the pattern changes then ring up xxxxx

I have an anterior placenta. Currently 35+2 and since about 27 weeks I have been able to feel regular movements and my stomach moves.

I had an anterior placenra with my first baby and I rarely felt him move, but he was frank breech throughout and so I dont think he could move.

I have been once to maternity assessment at 33 weeks after an afternoon of reduced movements.

The baby is so small at 19 weeks.

I’m almost 20 weeks and I also have an anterior placenta and haven’t felt any definite movements so far.

I had an anterior placenta with my daughter as well and it was the same, no obvious regular movements until well after 20 weeks. At about 22 weeks I went in to get checked as I freaked out that I hadn’t felt anything, but it was all fine and I tried to relax (not easy!)

In terms of your concerns about being anxious all through the third trimester with the cushioned movements, please don’t worry. Even with an anterior placenta once I was 30 weeks + the movements were very very obvious! Long wait until then I know.

A bit later this time around - maybe just around 20’weeks properly. Haven’t you got your 20’week scan soon for some reassurance ? You can always go and pay for a private scan for some additional reassurance.

I have an anterior placenta. Started definitely feeling kicks at around 21/22 weeks. I now feel kicks every day (at 24 weeks). My midwife said as long as I was feeling them by 24 weeks it was all good.

Hopefully your 20 week scan will reassure you soon!
