PCOS - when did you get your BFP

Hey ladies.

I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) in my early twenties, I’m now 32I’ve been with my partner for 6 years nearly and we never use contraception as we are firm believers that if it’s supposed to happen it will.

Well we were pretty shocked in March when I tested and got a faint line. I only tested cause I was having the weirdest cramps, and my friend told me too, I had no other symptoms. According to dates I was 7 weeks, and two days later I miscarried.

It was deflating, but we took it as a positive. I got pregnant and we would try again next year.

We decided to start using protection and then on the 26th July we totally forgot!

Over two weeks I started feeling strange. So I took a test and could swear I could see a line. I also had sore boobs, fatigue, tummy twinges, very slight nausea and food aversions.

A few days later last Thursday I started spotting, naturally I was worried, I went to the EPU who said they could not find any hcg in my blood and the scan showed nothing.

Then the nurse went through all my dates and symptoms and said, although I don’t want to get your hopes up, it could have been too early as with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is very common to ovulate late. And just as she said that I remember having the egg white discharge (my sign ovulation is coming) a few days longer than I normally do.

My spotting stopped after 48 hours and I know you should wait before testing But on Monday I tested with a sainsburys test and a got a faint positive which I posted on another thread to make sure I wasn’t going crazy.

However I’ve done a really cheap one today and I can barely see it but it’s there. I am waiting on my first response to come today. I’ve also had the pulling and twinges, very sensitive tingly boobs. And today I had some milky discharge.

So I guess long story short, if you have been pregnant with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) when did you start Getting your BFP (big fat positive (pregnancy test)) and when did they get darker.

I am making appointment as I know I need to but I really want a darker line to conceive myself I know that sounds stupid.

From what I’ve worked out I’m around 4 weeks, and last time I was around 6/7 and still only getting faints.

Any of your stories would be much appreciated and I’ll post an update later when my tests arrive as I’ve heard first response are really sensitive tests.

Katie x

With PCOS and irregular periods it’s really hard to date your pregnancy, it will be taken from the first day of your last period, however if you have 50 day cycles like I sometimes did, then this will calculate you way ahead in weeks than you actually are.
I charted my bbt so I knew when I ovulated, then I would test 2 weeks after that if my period hasn’t started. I ovulated day 20 the cycle I conceived, got a positive 17 days later but it was a strong positive at that point! Midwife used first day of last period until I had my 12 week scan, which put me back 6 days, matching my ovulation dates exactly.
Some cycles I ovulated so late, day 30 or so sometimes, so that would really throw out any dates if I had conceived. Good luck!

Hi.
I have PCOS and was waiting for my period so I could start clinical when I found out with DC1. (I took a test as I thought it would make my period happen immediately Grin) I hadn't had period for a whole year so I was clueless as to how for along I was (turned out 10 weeks)
With DC2 and 3 I sort of just knew by the symptoms from about 2 weeks but had to keep testing till 5 to get a strong BFP.
This time I found a random old test from years ago and thought- I'm going to pee on that (again, I wanted my period to start as I was achy and grumpy) and got the shock of my life when it turned out to be positive!
I'm now 17 weeks with DC4.
Good luck x

Thank you for both of your replies it really means a lot to me. I honestly think I'm just really early, like yourself I've noticed symptoms now for nearly two weeks specially around the time I spotted.

Thanks for your good luck I am hoping so! Still waiting on the tests not sure if I should do one as soon as they arrive but knowing mrs anxiety I probaly will.

Just to update - I took another test today and got another faint line that came up through the time frame. This time I used a Superdrug test and found out there exact the same as the pound land ones so won't be making the mistake of laying 4.99 for 2 when I get 5 for that price haha.

Took first one at 1pm and was very faint

Took the second around 6pm and got a much more distinctive line however still very faint but could see the thickness etc.

Trying not to get hopes up but it's all looking that way! Also my boobs look like a maze! And are so sensitive. Wish me luck for a really BFP in a few days

@katiemariee888 sorry to hear about your MC last year.
I have PCOS and when I got my BFP this pregnancy (my second), it was unexpected as I was having a really long cycle and it turned out I ovulated two weeks late. So when I ovulated was when I normally would have expected AF to arrive (around CD35) and I got some spotting around CD47 which didn't turn into AF and prompted me to test a couple days later incase it was implantation bleeding and I got my BFP CD49! My normal cycle lengths were around 35 days or less usually (but obviously irregular) and I hadn't previously been able to pinpoint ovulation other months and thought I might not have been ovulating, so it was really funny to have ovulated really late in my cycle the month I finally fell pregnant! It really messed my dates up though with scans and things, I was set back by about 2 weeks haha.
I think it sounds promising for you, especially as you've been getting faint lines! Can you share pictures? Sounds like you probably have just ovulated late and are really early!! Good luck xx

My husband and I tried for 9 months before I got pregnant although I was only using ovulation strips for the final 4 and only ovulated in 3 of those months (yay PCOS). I ovulated on a different day every time. Got a very very very faint line (barely visible) on the date my period was due (which the app I used predicted based on ovulation date), next day it was stronger, then I waited 2 more days and did another 2 tests (including a clear blue as well as the strip tests I'd been using) and they were both really clear. Never went to the GP, first contact was the appt with the midwife at 8 weeks :)

PCOS here, cycle length can be anything from 26 to 76 days. I got my latest BFP 14 DPO, or CD36.

I'm currently 7+3 if i go by the date of my last period but because i know for sure when I ovulated, I'm actually more like 6+1. I've had 2 miscarriages and 3 chemicals previously so my EPU have scanned me weekly since 4+6 and every single time I have to explain I didn't ovulate until 10 days later than they think I should have, hence why I'm measuring behind on dates. We had a heartbeat this week (5+5) and a teeny 3mm fetal pole :)

Your test looks very much like mine did on an internet cheapie at 13 DPO, the next day it was a much clearer line on a FRER!

Best advice I can give you for conceiving with PCOS naturally without medication is track everything, temp and take ovulation tests from CD5 onwards. If you can pin down ovulation your chances are so much better!

It took me TWENTY YEARS to get pregnant. She's perfect and beautiful. Strong PFB from around when my period was due, and my 12 week scan actually showed me at 11 weeks
