Hi

Is there any ladies who are plus size and expecting? I’m a size 22 and my bmi is 48. I’m only 4wks 3days along but wondered how you’re feeling? This is baby #3 but I was a couple of stone lighter with my last 2. I’m already struggling with my clothes because my boobs have gone up a full cup size already and I feel a bit down about the way I look. 😩 I’m also conscious that I won’t really have a baby bump until I’m at least a few months along because I have a big tummy.

Yes me. I’m around 17 stone, size 18. Bmi is 38

I’m having my 3rd section in a couple of weeks and I’m shitting myself. I’d already lost 5 stone before falling pregnant and gained no weight until 30 weeks. Then at 30 weeks the consultant started scaring me shitless about my weight and the section and I started comfort eating Sad which I know is the worst thing to do but they scared me so much. I thought if I’m going to die then I want pizza. I’ve been too scared to weigh myself since.

I wasn’t over weight with the other two, my BMi was normal. This time I’m 7 years older and heavier so I’ve found it harder. But I think that’s mostly to do with age (40). My BP has been perfect throughout though.

Congratulations!! 19 week over here, bmi 52!! I've been oh so sick and tired but other than that (touches wood) cannot wait to feel proper movements. I am on the other hand struggling to find comfy 'plus size maternity' work trousers 👶🏼

Hello! I'm 5 weeks pregnant. BMI 30. I lost load of weight due to pregnancy sickness when I was pregnant with dd. Although it was nice to lose weight, I'm really hoping I don't get sick like that again.

BMI of 40 12 weeks pregnant, came of my pill to help lose weight so I could try for a baby and ended up pregnant straight away. Have lost a bit of weight in first trimester due to being sick but I can't wait to see if I'll get a bump. Hopefully I do

Yupp, plus size and expecting here! Im 15 + 1 with a BMI of 41 (disadvantage of being 5 foot nothing). I too thought I wouldnt have a bump until late on due to having a belly but mine popped out last week. Although I do think it will become a B belly 😫
Only thing i would pre warn you about is how often your weight gets brought up at appointments. At first I wasnt too bothered but its starting to really irritate me now as im sick of hearing about it and the risks it could have everytime I turn up for a scan or an appointment - despite loosing 12lb already in this pregnancy 🙄🙄

Hi ladies, congrats to all. I'm not pregnant( that I know of, AF was due yesterday) I'm a size 20, not sure of my BMI, when I suggested to my best friend that I could be pregnant she politely suggested that I might not notice the changes in my body because I'm overweight!

Did anybody else notice changes? Or could she be correct!

For example (TMI warning) I feel bloated but going to the toilet fine and my belly (my over hang)/ ab area feels like I've done 1,000 sit ups and is harder when I press in (makes me feel like I need a wee)

These aren't normal things for me. Everyone I know who's had/ are pregnant have been size 12 or smaller so they are mostly all baby.

Sorry if this isn't allowed but I could do with some advice x

Hi Ladies

Pleased it’s not just me! It’s been 7 years since my last baby so I’ve forgotten a lot of it! I think I lost weight with the sickness with my last 2 dc and maintained that weight until they were both born. I think I’m just feeling a bit down in the dumps today - too hot, big floppy belly and big sore boobs! I remember looking like I had an elephant in my stomach with my son but he was 9lb 1oz haha.

Hey @BronzeSilverGold13 my symptoms were big sore boobs, frequent need to wee, some bubbly feelings and cramping in my lower tummy. I did feel more bloated but I thinks it because I was constipated. Sorry if TMI 😂

@BronzeSilverGold13 i think youd definitely notice changes. I found out at 3 +4 thanks to early result tests, the only changes i noticed were increase thirst and abdo pain from increased constipation then the intense signs started bang on 6 weeks.
I wouldnt say the way your abdominal feels when touching is really any kind of sign in early pregnancy regardless of size x

My bmi is 37, i’m only 5ft 1 so worried about how i’m going to cope full term!

I had my 12 week scan this week and no one has mentioned my bmi yet, but it is in my notes. I have a consultant appointment later in the month i’m sure it will be brought up then.

I’m trying to eat sensibly and now that the gyms have reopened trying to go swimming as much as i can Smile

Hi ladies @JLM1008 I need a wee constantly but I don't know if I'm just drinking excessively because of the weather. Yeah my tummy is feeling bubbly lately! I don't know if I'm symptom spotting too much this month 😂

@Babba2801 oh that's a relief then, it is a worry for me that I won't feel things like others would!

Thanks for the messages ladies I feel a bit better x

Morning ladies, I just wanted to update you, took an IC this morning and got a BFP, I'm extremely scared incase it's a false positive but I'm buying more tests today! Do you ladies have any preferences in tests?

Congratulations @BronzeSilverGold13! That’s fantastic news! Lots of people rave about frer tests on here. I personally prefer to use a clear blue digital with weeks indicator as I find the words more reassuring! 😘

Hi, I'm 21+1 and size 18/20, BMI 35 and 5"2, so feeling quite spherical.

My weight has been a worry for me this entire pregnancy, as I had planned to lose weight before trying, but our LO was a surprise.

My blood pressure has been great, so far, but as it's my first baby I've been put on aspirin for the remainder of the pregnancy.

The only thing I worry about, and it's silly, is that people will assume I've just put more weight on instead of being pregnant. I have a little bump, but it's hidden a little by my stomach.

My boobs have also grown to the point where sometimes they make my arm go to sleep when I sleep on my side. I already had large boobs to begin with.

I think there's a lot of taboo about being plus sized and pregnant, but so far, my pregnancy has been normal.

@BronzeSilverGold13, I had symptoms from about 4 weeks and they were pretty obvious now I think about it. I think I was in denial as he wasn't planned.

My symptoms included: feeling bloated, overly tired, sense of smell and taste changing (I suddenly hated coffee, which usually I adore), and my period was late.

BronzeSilverGold13 · 08/08/2020 10:45

@Bluejayway91 I'm only 3 days late, last month I'm pretty sure I had a CP as I was over 2 weeks late with a very faint positive. I could have sworn I had all the known symptoms too. This month barely any symptoms and 3 days late... DP said to wait for 2 weeks and test but I couldn't wait that long haha.

Congratulations on your LO, I was the same as you, thought I probs shift some weight before we tried properly but looks like that didn't happen

@Babba2801 how did you lose that weight?

Hey ladies can I join? I'm 30 years old, a size 20/22 not sure what my weight is. I've had 8 miscarriages in four years before and after my 2.5 year old son. I'm currently unsure how pregnant I am as my viability scan put me a week behind so I'm either 8 weeks or 6 weeks. I have another viability scan on Monday.

But I feel like complete and utter shit. Exhausted (expected that after my pregnancy with my son), indigestion (again ditto), but also just completely and utterly destroyed like I have the worlds worst sickness bug and I need to puke to relieve it but I can't.

Ugh! Is anyone else feeling like this?

Also @BronzeSilverGold13 congrats on the BFP id ignore your friend symptoms are absolutely not tied to weight.

Ugh @Babba2801 sorry you're struggling too! I had an awful pregnancy with my son so I figured I'd had that and I could handle it. Now I feel equally shit but just in a completely new way and my god I'm being a baby! I can't cope! Blush

Just thought I'd jump on!

I honestly don't know how much I weigh because I don't have scales at home and they haven't told me at my appointments but I average a size 18 depending on clothes (I wear some 16s but also some 20s too)

I'm 12 weeks 5 days pregnant today. I have noticed weight gain around my stomach, somewhat of a "bump" forming already but could mostly be bloat. I did actually lose weight in the very early stages of pregnancy and I had terrible morning sickness until just after the 11 week point and I definitely noticed my upper arms etc slim out a bit more but nothing too drastic.

I've not had any problems so far and nobody at any of my appointments has mentioned anything too serious other than a test for gestational diabetes which I would have had anyway because my dad is diabetic. Scans have been fine (I had an early one at 6 weeks because of some pains etc) and could see the embryo and heartbeat perfectly via abdominal scan. Had my 12 week scan recently and again no problems whatsoever.

The only thing I'm struggling with which is probably weight related as I did have it a bit before is sciatica pain but it comes and goes and isn't too debilitating. I just don't have much energy right now so don't feel like going on walks etc which I was doing before I got pregnant.

I'm a bit worried I won't get a "proper bump" or a nice round bump until really late in the pregnancy which is disheartening but with PCOS and Endometriosis and being told I'd never conceive, to be pregnant is a bloody miracle so I'll take it as it comes!
