Lesbian Yorkshire couple 4 days into two week wait

Good morning lovelys! Myself and my wife are from Wakefield and have received our fabulous (self funded) IVF treatment from Manchester Fertility. We are 4 days into the two week wait (I'm carrying wife's egg). I'm so excited, does anyone have any tips? Apart from the obvious, no fire juggling, shark diving etc. I was wondering if anyone knows of LGBTQ new mothers groups in Yorkshire, cant seem to find anything on big wide web. Any suggestions welcome :) Daffodil xx

Wishing you the best of luck!

First round? Having been through unsuccessful IVF, I’d just say to relax as much as you can, don’t overdo it (but sounds like you’ve cancelled the shark diving so you should be ok on that front!) and if the first go doesn’t work, don’t be too hard on yourselves.

Wishing a happy outcome for you both :)

Relax is something I do easily so I'll take your advice and do it 🙂 I'm working from home so hopefully that helps with that. I'm so sorry to hear about your IVF journey so far, I joined on here to hear other people's points of view as feel it will help if this first attempt doesn't work, so thank you for sharing.

Try to take it easy and relax as much as possible and don't second guess any symptoms that you've got. I'm currently pregnant with my little IVF miracle and many of the symptoms for pregnancy are the same as your period coming, but the chances are everything is just your body reacting to the progesterone!

I would also say, don't be tempted to test early, you can get false results due to the drugs used during IVF so wait till your official test date. Best of luck to you both x

Was lucky enough to not need IVF to have our DD so no advise there! But as for pregnancy in it's self, listen to your body! If you're tired, nap! Those dishes will still be there when you wake up (or wife might have done them if you're lucky! 😂)
Craving something? Eat it! It's pretty much the only time in your life you get to eat what you want (in moderation) and not get judged!
Spend quality time with your wife as a couple, even if you're low on energy or feeling sick, cuddle on the sofa and watch a movie. Order a takeaway and have a dinner date at home. Having a baby will alter the dynamics of your relationship more than you can ever imagine (sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse) but if you can remember that you are first and foremost a couple and love and spend that time together, you'll be in a stronger place to parent together once baby is here.

And lastly, involve your wife in EVERYTHING! I tried to keep the aches and pains from my husband initially but 9/10 times they want to know and be involved so they can help you but also so they feel a part of it.

Good luck to you both!

@Wakefield89Russell hopefully yours will work first time! It does for some, after all Smile

I’m 29 weeks pregnant now so it all worked out for us in the end (all being well for the next few months!)

I was one of the lucky ones who has success first time so it definitely does happen!

Awww thank you guys that's lovely I'll keep all of that in mind Flowers It's hard isn't it when it's something you want so bad but not much you can do really to change outcome apart from stay healthy and chill. I think fertility treatment is such a weird time, myself and wife haven't told many people incase it doesn't work which means we have been social distancing more intensely then some of our friends so it's seemed a little strange, but the choice we have made so it's fair dos Smile
