Very short femur length at 38 weeks!!

I had to have a scan today because of reduced movements. I'm currently 38+4.

Scan showed everything was fine and good measurements apart from his femur.

They are below the 3rd centile and are below the chart now. I have attached a picture for you to look at it. Midwife spoke with consultant and consultant said he was not concerned as scans are not accurate this late in pregnancy.

However, I cannot help but worry!!! I have a condition which has been passed down in the family, I have it, mum, nan and great nan have it. Addenbrooks genetic team was investigating it to see how their was a link but they could not find out why after months of investigating so I was just told that any children I have will have a 50/50 chance of getting it. It's called avascular necrosis (it's a condition causing bone death in the hip bone) and all that have been affected by it are 5ft and under. So now I'm really worried!!

I'm due to have c section on Monday anyway when I'll be 39+2 but I feel like I want him out now 😞 anyone been through something similar? Thanks

Don't panic! Avascular necrosis of the hip usually affects adults, so it's highly unlikely there is anything wrong with your baby's hip at this very early stage. Try to relax and enjoy the last few days before you meet your baby - definitely time for some pampering and treats for you!

@Couchpotato3 that is very true. I was initially diagnosed with perthes disease at 3 years old but then when I was 18 they told me it was now avascular necrosis and in both of the hips instead of one. I will try to stop worrying, your right I should just relax these next few days ready for the new arrival on Monday 😊 thank you for replying x
