The gross subject of baby boogers to add to the list of gross baby things...

This is probably one of those where they are pretty much the same but wondered if people had recommendations

So far have narrowed it down to the snufflebabe and nosefrida...is one any better than the other?

Literally none of these work as well as using your mouth. Grim, but effective.

UncleMatthewsEntrenchingTool Sun 26-Jul-20 19:58:19

I’m afraid the only thing that really works is your own mouth. It sounds disgusting but you won’t care 😫

ButtonHogger Sun 26-Jul-20 19:59:21

Snufflebabe. My favourite part of parenting grin

SimonJT Sun 26-Jul-20 19:59:46

Use your mouth, just make sure you do it near a sink, I learned that one the hard way.

BertieBotts Sun 26-Jul-20 19:59:53

Oh god none of them. You don't need them. The concept is gross and I don't think it's very healthy to stick things up a baby's nose. The snot is there for a reason. If you need to loosen it squirt some breast milk up there or you can buy saline drops at the chemist which work as well. And snuffle babe rubbed on their chest.

BertieBotts Sun 26-Jul-20 20:00:40

I've never used my mouth btw either!

Soubriquet Sun 26-Jul-20 20:01:07

I can’t remember now but I’m sure I used snuffle babe

Came in handy when any of the dc had colds and were struggling

Oldestchild90s Sun 26-Jul-20 20:01:44

Is there not a nasal aspirator people use? Or are you literally using your mouths? 😩

annlee3817 Sun 26-Jul-20 20:02:01

Saline drops worked well, then I would just remove the horrible crust whilst she was having a feed

5tarlight Sun 26-Jul-20 20:02:47

I have the nose Frieda, works fine. Haven't tried the other, looks a similar set up having just has a look at it. Can't imagine there's much difference. It's a gross yet strangely satisfying task! 😂 Hope baby's feeling better soon

grin mouth!? I'm sure I'll be filled with maternal lover but I'm not sure I could use my mouth..

Yeah, just googled it.. sorry i was confused haha! Snufflebabe has always had good reviews!

UncleMatthewsEntrenchingTool Sun 26-Jul-20 20:05:45

You’ll be surprised what you’re driven to when the sucky thing won’t work and the baby won’t sleep because it’s bunged up and so you can’t sleep till the baby does. And you think I bet I could just suck that out and then I can go to sleep...

Suck, spit, sorted... 😬

user1493413286 Sun 26-Jul-20 20:13:31

I never found they work and with both my DC I’ve never used my mouth; saline drops have helped though when my DS was congested and struggling to feed

RegalRags Sun 26-Jul-20 20:17:46

I use a nose Frida and it works well.
You don't need to shove it up the baby's nose! Just sits at the end of the nostril and you suck without risk of getting snot in your mouth.

As much as I love my child there's no chance I'm sucking snot out using my own mouth.

Footlooseandfancy Sun 26-Jul-20 20:55:01

I did not know this was a thing! I just use saline drops/spray and tilt the head of the cot up.

BabyG123 Sun 26-Jul-20 20:59:35

Snuffle baby 100%! Snuffle baby saline
Drops and snuffle baby oil/rub

ShirleyPhallus Sun 26-Jul-20 21:03:11

I cannot believe people suck the snot out the baby’s nose! So gross!!!

Saline drops were fine for us

ohwerehalfwaythere Sun 26-Jul-20 21:05:22

Nosefrieda is useless! I got a pippette type thing from boots, much better

2155User Sun 26-Jul-20 21:06:25

All absolutely useless

DH uses the mouth technique. I never could but it does work well

SaucyTrout2k Sun 26-Jul-20 21:08:56

Can’t believe people suck it out with their mouth 🤮 utterly disgusting! I used a snufflebabe and it was brilliant.

Dramaofallama Sun 26-Jul-20 21:11:41

I agree with the others, I bought one and it was useless, my son also wouldnt stay still long enough for me to use it.

I definitely recommend the saline drops from snuffle baby and also calpol plug ins (i think they are for 2 or 3 months plus though).

Tinyhumansurvivalist Sun 26-Jul-20 21:18:19

I could never have used my mouth...God the thought makes me dry heave.

We had this, it was brilliant and I stilk use on occasion now and dd is nearly 7 nuby-uk.com/bath-time-health-care-c10/health-care-c105/nuby-nasal-aspirator-p178

mommybear1 Sun 26-Jul-20 21:22:38

@ButtonHogger and @SaucyTrout2k have it right snufflebabe is the way to go I feckin love it - DH hates the sound but there is genuinely nothing more satisfying grin. Using your mouth 🤮.
