Anyone else getting fed up of work now?

I am so excited to go on maternity leave, I’m finding my job really intense and stressful at the moment, even working from home rather than in the office. I normally really like my job but I’m getting so fed up of it, I cannot wait to go on maternity leave even though I’m only 21 weeks. Keep reminding myself that I’ve just gotta get through the next 3 months and then I’m free from the stress!
And no I don’t think maternity leave is going to be a ‘holiday’ or ‘easy’, I’d just much rather look after a baby than do my job right now!
But the idea of handing over my job to someone else fills me with dread 😂

Yep, I am exactly the same, and I started getting impatient around the same time as you. I’m 30 weeks now, so only 6 more weeks until my mat leave starts, and I cannot wait!
I too normally enjoy my job (And working from home has made it a lot more enjoyable for me) but I am so over working at the moment and am so easily irritated while I’m at work. Also I am so excited to meet and start looking after my little boy, I know it’s not going to be a walk in the park but I would just rather be doing that right now. I can’t wait for the day I get to handover any of my remaining work 😂

@xxxemzyxxx I feel exactly the same, I get annoyed or stressed out at everything at work these days. Sooo ready for it to be over! Would much rather be starting my new job of baby mama lol. Not long for you to wait now, exciting Grin

Same here. I am soooo ready for the maternity leave. I am 26 weeks at the moment, and planning on stopping at 36 weeks (annual leave first then mat leave). Literally counting down the weeks, if not days.
It makes me feel better there are few of us feeling this way ☺️

I'm only 19 + 3, but I work in a very stressful job with clients who seem to moan a lot! Luckily, I work from home, but the fact that I get calls diverted to my mobile really doesn't help, especially when I suppose to be taking my lunch break.

I too know that maternity leave won't be a picnic, but I am so sick of work bullshit, I am counting down the hours.

I almost 21weeks and Already counting down to when I can start maternity leave. I’m currently working from home but it can be stressful and we also get phone queries too with many issues. It’s fine on days I feel good but days like today when tired and nauseous I just count down the hours until can log off for the day.

I am still not completely sure when to start maternity as had my son at 39+4 and my daughter at 38wks. I am due beginning of December so thinking I will take the 3 weeks annual leave I have left from middle November and then officially start maternity at 39 weeks but thinking what if I have baby at 38weeks? I want to stretch my time off out until only returning when schools return 6th Sept. My partner is a teacher too so would be nice for us to have the summer together rather than him finish for summer and me return to work. I am going to ask if I can use 3 weeks of next years annual leave tagged onto end of my maternity so that I then get 3 weeks of full pay.

Having a small baby isn’t always easy but I am looking forward to spending time with my little baby girl and not worrying about work or spending on childcare. Plus it will be nice to be able to be around for my older children too especially in summer holidays.

@Mc3209 same, I’m glad it’s not just me who feels like this! I’m going at 37 weeks (annual leave up to 39 weeks). Can’t wait!

@Bluejayway91 me and you are feeling exactly the same! Sick of worrying about work and dealing with everyone’s problems, would rather deal with a baby lol

@alphabetti I know you can’t exactly plan when the baby comes but maybe if you have a history of slightly early babies, you could assume this one might be early too? Great that you’ve got annual leave saved so you can finish work early, just sucks that if the baby does come early your holiday leave is stopped and mat leave starts. Maybe you could ask HR if you could move any of this years holiday into next year if the baby does come early and mat leave has to start early?

@Bettie2192 Exactly! I honestly couldn't care less about work right now.

I think it's also the fact that I don't have any holiday until the bank holiday weekend.

I’m 20 weeks and not wanting to wish time away, but also just feeling knackered already! They are starting to discuss covering me, so interesting to see how those discussions go.

I’m planning on starting ML at 39 weeks but have a fair amount of leave to take, so planning to be off from 37 weeks and 4 day weeks from about 34 weeks.

I’ve got some time off in August and a long weekend in October, so hoping that’s enough to see me through.

Supposed to be doing things like half year review and it all seems a bit pointless now!

@MaverickDanger are you working from home at the moment? I’ve am and have no idea what my place will do about any sort of handover. I don’t know yet if they will recruit someone new to cover me or try to distribute my work between other members of staff (which would be a disaster but I have a bad feeling that’s what they will do). I imagine I’ll need to set foot in the office at some point before mat leave though! Think my manager is going to have a conversation with me about it at the end of this week.
I’ve got 3 days off in August and then a few more days to play around with so I could have another week off in September/October to give me a bit of a break.

Yep wfh as are my whole team, and our offices won’t reopen until January. We are split across 15 offices so doesn’t matter where we sit, so my cover might end up being 300 miles away!

My role is either being offered in its entirety for a peer to cover, or a step up/development opportunity for someone at a lower grade, so the handover depends on who applies. Most of my job is around knowledge management so is a difficult one to hand over!

I can already feel myself mentally switching off, but know that I have to remain “on it” at all times. I’m trying to break it down into chunks so hopefully it goes by fast!

@MaverickDanger I have to also keep reminding myself to stay 'on the ball' these days, I find I am just switching off from work stuff. But no can do for another 10 weeks. Meh.

I am the exact same, I majorly CBA lol 4 more weeks to go at work and I've just went down to 2 half days and 3 full days a week as last week after the full week working I was exhausted and ready go off ASAP. (had been furloughed and then WFH before this I'm just raging they've brought me back in lol)

Unfortunately I've a pile of work to clear up before I go so I'm hoping the time will fly in!

@Sunsage it’s good that you’re doing less days a week but I imagine the downside is feeling like you’ve got so much to do in less time than normal lol. I’m just gonna do full time til 37 weeks then bugger off knowing it’s someone else’s problem for a while 😂

@MaverickDanger I’m gonna think of it month by month, so muster up the energy to get through August, and then it’s just September and October (and a week and a bit of November)! Fortunately August is looking quiet for me work-wise so hopefully can de-stress a bit.
