Hey all Smile
I had my 28 week midwife app this morning and when she measured me I was coming up as 26, she's referred me for a growth scan tomorrow and now I'm freaking out that something is wrong with baby, everything else was fine and I'm petite so midwife said it could be just down to my size
Anyone else been in a similar situation?

Morning @Lexi92
Its very very rarely anything to worry about, they send you for a scan if you're measuring small just a precaution mainly. I measured between 2/4cm behind my entire pregnancy right up until 36 weeks when all of a sudden I ballooned and was 2cm ahead! They sent me for a growth scan as well and it was all very normal, they just said he was a small baby (but I am a size 6 so it wasn't a huge surprise). He arrived at 38 weeks at 6lb8 and was then a real piggy and shot up to 75th centile and has been there ever since (he's now 15m).
It really isn't anything to worry about, some people just measure small. Especially if you're petite yourself. Good luck at the scan though but pls don't panic Smile

@mrsmummy1111 thank you for your reply it's made me feel better knowing it can be common and hopefully nothing to worry about, I'm just over 5 foot and also a size 6 (pre pregnancy) so cant imagine I'll be carrying a huge baby in here, just going to try and keep myself busy until tomorrow and not let it stress me out Smile

Try not to worry! Your midwife is just taking precautions. I measured small throughout my pregnancy. At about 38 weeks, DD stopped growing (as in my bump didnt grow) and I was sent for a growth scan. When the consultant at the hospital measured me, I was coming up at 34 weeks with the tape measure. Booked in for an induction at 39 weeks. DD was small - 5.5lb but perfectly healthy and 6 years later is now kn the 98th centile for height and weight! Some people just make small babies, but its best to get thjngs checked.

Best thing to do @Lexi92 - keep yourself busy and try not to worry, always better to be safe than sorry but I've got a few friends who also had growth scans as they were measuring small. Nobody had any scary results, we were just small women with small (and healthy) babies. Best of luck for tomorrow!!

A friend of mine got sent in for a scan due to measuring small- baby was fine. She then got sent in for a GTT due to measuring over- baby was fine. Bump measurement isn't the most accurate of tools but it's far cheaper for the NHS than scanning you every time they see you.

Please try not to worry - I was in your shoes and do know how hard it can be to stop worrying though!

I had loads of growth scans - 5 or 6 in the end I think. This sounds awful but while the first couple felt scary, the rest just kind of felt pretty routine! I'd definitely got used to them. The professionals have to get these things checked just to be on the safe side & it's really common.

P.s. every single scan I had turned out to be a false alarm / not necessary and me and that baby were absolutely fine. I now have a healthy and happy nearly 2 year old!

Good luck Smile

You're all so lovely and really helped put my mind at ease, these little babies like to keep us on our toes don't they! Keeping positive and hoping I'll be coming out of the scan reassured everything's okay and with the added bonus of seeing baby again after my last scan 8 weeks ago x

I had this a few weeks ago, I was measuring 3-4cm behind. Scan the next day, all fine baby is on the 50th centile, like you I am small 5ft 2 size 6.
You will be fine :) I had this all through my last pregnancy, the extra scans are a nice bonus

Hi 👋🏼 I had a similar situation and I constantly measured behind throughout my pregnancy. I was induced at 37 weeks and she was 5lb 3oz tiny but perfect. I'm 5'7 and a size 10 but I only gained 15lb In my
Whole pregnancy and nothing at all until 25 weeks!dont worry.

I had almost the exact same thing, except I'm a little bigger than you to begin with. Bump was well below the lines on the graph, baby's heartbeat etc absolutely fine, sent for growth scan, baby on 50th percentile or thereabouts.
