Hi ladies just curious as to how much your babies were estimated to weigh at this scan and if you've already had your baby how much they actually weighed. Also what were your centile measurements please?

I think DD was estimated at around 7.5pounds. She was up around the 98th centile. She was on track to be a ten pounder, but actually she was 8.5 pounds when she was born (39plus6 days)

My daughter was estimated 5lb12 at 35+6. Was born 36+6 6lb5 so spot on really. 50th centile

For growth scans to be accurate you need 3 at 2 week intervals. Mine was spot on.

@Lockdownseperation... yes spot on!! That's why if your high risk and you are given growth scans the do this..

6lb 11oz at 36+4 around the 80th centile, born 40+10 and only 7lb which was only slightly above the 10th centile! had a completely inaccurate scan at 40+2 which predicted a 9lb baby.

Can I ask, is a 36 week scan standard for NHS? I dont remember getting one on my last DD and nobody has mentioned a 36 week scan to me on DC2 (I am 25 weeks)

KLM19 · 20/07/2020 18:22

@SqidgeBum Only if you are in a higher risk category for some reason.

Lockdownseperation · 20/07/2020 18:22

@SqidgeBum only a few hospital trust do a presentation scan.

Ah ok I was wondering. I am getting one at 32 weeks for a low placenta but I doubt I will get a 36 week one as I am not high risk

Report
KLM19 · 20/07/2020 18:29

@SqidgeBum you will get a 35/36 week one if your placenta hasnt moved.. I have one this week. Also growth scans due to previous complications.

SqidgeBum · 20/07/2020 18:40

Oh right @KLM19. I thought they would just check it at 32 weeks and if it's still low they will schedule a section. Grant it, nobody has actually talked to me about it and my midwife is shielding and they havent bothered to replace her, so I have nobody to ask.

Is it standard procedure to be scanned on NHS before you give birth (or during week 40) to see the baby's position and get a check up?

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 20/07/2020 18:58

Baby was estimated at 8lbs2 and she was head down at 36 weeks

She was actually 6lb1 and transverse.

It was nice to see her on screen, anyway Grin

@sqidgebum a women on here that was private in England said they booked her in at 32 for one with low lying... but in Scotland it's not made till later due to it still being able to move.. I would 100% rather of known if I was getting a c section at 32 weeks scan rather than waiting feels like forever..

My hospital don't have a routine scan at 36 weeks. I had one with my first as I was measuring big.

He was estimated at 7lbs at 37 weeks. He was born less than 2 weeks later at 9lb1

I was told my baby would be 5-5.5 lb, she was 8lb 1! No chance of fitting in the tiny baby clothes 😂
