Sore nipples - could I be pregnant?

I came off of my mini-pill Cerelle on 3rd July to start TTC, I have had no withdrawal bleed and no period so far. My partner and I have DTD 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th and 18th of this month. I had mild cramping 14th - 16th and have had unbelievably sore nipples every single day since 14th and have started to feel nauseous last couple days. I took a test today - BFN. I think I may be testing too soon, but as well could these symptoms just be PMS? I also did an ovulation test today and this showed I’m not ovulating. I’ve never experienced nipple pain like this, it’s so bad. Is there a possibility I could be pregnant this soon? And when should I test again?

This is my first time TTC so I would appreciate others opinions, thank you!

I'm sorry if this is disheartening, but I believe sore nipples is a common side effect of coming off the pill. I know it was for me (granted, that was the combined pill, but I believe it's the same).

However, it could well be that your testing too soon. Give it some time, the longer the better, and test again if still no sign of a withdrawal bleed / period.

Thanks for your comment!

Do you remember how long it lasted for?

My nipples were really bad. I took a test 6 days before my period and it was a BFN and then I took a digital one 5 days before and it said pregnant. Maybe wait a little bit longer to test, unfortunately PMS, Pill hormones and pregnancy symptoms can all be the same (like we don't have enough to worry about haha). I hope you get the answer you want Thanks

@Nam095 When I came off the pill my nipples were sore for maybe three or four days, starting maybe two weeks after the last pill. My memory is a little hazy though so don't take these as exact.

You're more likely to be experiencing pms than you are to be pregnant.

Nipples can also hurt after ovulation

My nipples and boobs are incredibly sore after coming off the pill, it has lasted about two weeks!

Sore nipples were one of my first pregnancy symptoms when I fell pregnant with DS1.

BUT I also get really sore boobs and nipples when I am due on every month. When I came off the pill to TTC, I also had horrendous morning sickness type symptoms. The hormone surge of coming off the pill is unfortunately very similar to that in early pregnancy.

It is most likely hormonal disorder caused by coming off the Pill. Generally it takes two weeks minimum for you to ovulate after coming off it, and most of a further two weeks to get a positive test, assuming that you conceive first try. It sometimes takes months for your cycle to re-establish itself after the pill. All you can do is wait and see really - but it is very common for pill withdrawal to cause progesterone increases that mimic pregnancy symptoms. And in general, pregnant enough for symptoms is pregnant enough for a positive test.

Thanks all for the comments. Just find it strange I also haven't had a withdrawal bleed yet, I thought they usually show up within a few days of stopping the pill?

Guess I'll have to be more patient Grin

Sore nipples is a result of progesterone, when i came off the pill i didnt have a withdawal bleed however a characteristic for me that i had ovulated is sore nips and they would be like tbat up until 10 dpo when they would start to feel less sore before aunt flo arrived. So based on your dates and that principle you could be 6 dpo and therefore wouldnt get a bfp. I would wait another 6 days before testing again, it isnt unheard of to convince straight away after coming off the pill. Good luck x

I didn't have a withdrawal bleed for a couple of months after coming off the mini pill

Equally im going to add to that, on 14th and 16th you has cramping which is 11 days after coming off t6be pill so could be in time for ovulation, this would also coincide with the sore nipples. It all looks positive from my end x

I came off the pill (lizinna/cilest) & had my withdrawal bleed at the same time as I normally would, but got pregnant the first or second time we DTD after I finished my bleed; sensitive nipples were one of my first pregnancy symptoms. I normally got sore boobs in general close to my withdrawal bleed but not the nips in particular Blush, so I really noticed it, it definitely felt different to normal.

Hey all, going on 8 days straight now with the pain. If it doesn’t ease up within a week would anyone recommend speaking to GP? Can’t imagine 2 weeks of intense nipple pain is normal, even if it is PMS.. I never had it when I was having periods

Btw I’ve come to the realisation that I most likely am not pregnant and I’m just experiencing withdrawal symptoms of coming off the pill, so just concentrating on monitoring my symptoms now

@Nam095 If you dont think pregnancy then its likely hormonal imbalance, with sore nips not being abnormal with that. If it continues for an extended period of time then you could consider seeing a doctor but i imagine they would say the same. When i came of lf the pill i had sore nips for 2 weeks which made me think i was pregnant straight away but that wasnt the case. I never used to get sore nips but as times gone in my luteal phase was always characterisised with sore nips which was then really helpful for pinpointing when ovulation happened. X
