Pregnancy

I give up!

I was advised to speak to my midwife about my mood during this pregnancy, I'm single and first time mum, 32 weeks pregnant.

Went today, tried several times to speak to her about the fact I now feel like I don't want to carry on with life. She was more interested in the fact that no appointments where up on the screen and walked out.

I've spoken to a gp who gave me the 'covid' mood reason and palmed me off with a counsellors number, the number has been off everyday I've called.

I'm drowning and no one wants to listen!

It sounds like you’re having a really tough time! I have no real advice to offer just want to show someone cares and I hope you can get the support you need soon! If you go to Tommy’s.co.uk they have a dedicated helpline where you can speak to a midwife who may be able to help or offer some support or at least point you in the direction of someone who can. They have a whole section of the website dedicated to mental health in pregnancy that I’ve found useful.
Take care

That sounds horrible, could you maybe call the GP back and be very explicit with how you are feeling, using words like 'drowning'as you have are quite powerful. Insist that you either want a further referral or a prescription for something to help. 8 more weeks is too long to feel like this.

A lot of people experience depression in the final trimester. This must be exasperated by your situation.

Good luck, it will all eventually be okay xx

Hi OP. Didn’t want to read and run but am only 10 weeks so can’t offer too much advice on midwifes, however have you thought about the Samaritans? Or as PP have suggested, calling back and being firm with the GP and midwife. That treatment is simply disgusting.
Please look after yourself x
