Surrounded by second hand smoking

Hey ladies today I was at a friends house and normally she smokes in the kitchen but today Bec she was doing a little dinner thing she had w couple of people in the kitchen smoking with her at first I was in the front room but then I had to go in the kitchen to get me and the other kids some food so think I was in there for no more than 10mins now I'm worried I harmed my baby because there was a lot of people smoking until the room was very smoky

10 minutes couldn’t harm your baby. I know it’s difficult when you are pregnant and you worry about lots of things. I definitely did. But the warnings are for smokers and those that have people smoking in their homes all of the time. Anyway, your body filters out as much of the bad stuff as possible before it gets to baby.

Are they aware you're pregnant? I found that when I was pregnant if i asked anyone politely to smoke elsewhere they immediately did. You do have to ask though!

They were smoking in the kitchen with the door closed but I had to go in the kitchen to get the food for the kids and me

It won't make any sense for me not to if they were already smoking once I walked in the kitchen @@Somethingorotherorother no one knows I'm pregnant and Bec of my miscarriage couple months ago I will be not mentioning anything until I feel more comfortable but I'm just going to stop putting myself in those situations

Honestly@AlwaysBelieve19 your baby won't suffer any ill effects from that amount of smoke. I remember when I was first pregnant my boss was always smoking I used to shut the door between us, he'd open it. I told him I was pregnant, he'd apologise and shut the door. A few days later it would be open again . I left shortly after but I still had 2 months of his smoke drifting around. Baby was fine, she's off to uni in September.

I would not be going around again. Sounds a dick for smoking in a house with kids and a pregnant person. Especially given its summer.

Your baby will be just fine. Try not to worry.
Once your baby is here if you plan on visiting those friends, I’d be asking them to not hold the baby if they’ve smoked a cigarette. 2nd hand smoke can be really harmful to the baby, and not worth the risk x
