Mums of Twins! When did you start showing?

Just that really? How many weeks when you became aware of your bump. Not even out of Trimester 1 here and tempted to dig out my old maternity jeans. It could be purely weight gain from pork scratchings and Kettle chips, but if feels more bump shaped.

Google pics are very deceiving so tell me, when was you bump obvious?

I'm 10w and had a noticeable bump from 7! 2nd and third babies. How far along are you?

glasshalfsomething Thu 09-Jul-20 19:05:56

Ditto. Just shy of 11 weeks and it’s no 2 and 3. Only seem to have put on 2lb h by us no I’ve dropped muscle tone as I’ve been too knackered to work out or run.

Glad I’m not the only one!

It's a while ago but I think from around 8 weeks. By the end I was HUGE! DTs combined weight was over 14lbs.

ivfdreaming Thu 09-Jul-20 19:14:08

I found out I have twins on board on Monday (hopefully next 2&3) and I've already stopped wearing my skinny jeans as they are too uncomfortable and am now in leggings and elasticated waists - I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and I have a noticeable stomach - bit scared about how big I'm going to get!

MuchTooTired Thu 09-Jul-20 19:18:07

I was in maternity jeans by 7/8 weeks (the under bump ones), they were my first pregnancy. I was also huge, had a combined baby weight of 13lb 9oz, and put on 4 stone in total weight - only 1 stone of which was biscuits 😳

glasshalfsomething Thu 09-Jul-20 19:23:19

On one hand I’m relieved. I can still do stretchy jeans and feel comfortable, but the idea of 4 stone terrifies me. Glad I’m not imagining a bump out of snackage.

On the other hand; I don’t even want to think about final bump size. I had a small first baby, from a huge bump.

Time will tell I guess.

Thanks for all the replies and good luck to those currently pregnant!

@ivfdreaming - going by your username, can I ask if your twins are ivf ones?

My first baby was ivf but these are natural conception.

Hi yes they are - 4th transfer after 5 rounds of IVF. (Lost both tubes to ruptured ectopic pregnancies) Wasnt expecting twins at all as did PGS testing last year and didn't get any "normal" embryos so didn't expect both to implant

I've also had several miscarriages so part of me doesn't really believe we"ll get to take two babies home!

I'm very scared about how big I'm likely to get though! But read that they usually come out around 36 weeks so should be a bit smaller than my first DD?! 🤣.

Would you guys be interested in a twin WhatsApp? I'm dying to chat about it properly with people in the same boat and haven't found much for twins so far! Pm me if so! X

ivfdreaming Thu 09-Jul-20 19:35:07

My first pregnancy I definitely went overboard on the whole "eating for two" excuse so this time I'm going to be much more careful what I eat - I don't want to gain 4 stone! - last time I was pregnant over Xmas and i Blame Asda for doing 2 tins of Roses for £7!

I'm not having morning sickness or any symptoms at all really other than extreme tiredness

glasshalfsomething Thu 09-Jul-20 19:41:11

Happy to give it a go @JessicaPeach. I’ll be upfront and say I often mute WhatsApp for a day or so just for headspace - I’m in a lot of groups! But if that doesn’t offend others; that’s ok.

Ditto @ivfdreaming - lived on chicken nuggets and crunchy nut cornflakes. Determined these two will get some fruit and veg!

My nausea is starting to subside and I fell like the absolute exhaustion hasn’t been as bad yesterday and today 🤞🏻

Me too - I'll figure out how to PM you x

JessicaPeach Thu 09-Jul-20 20:14:52

You have to do it via safari or the web site rather than the app x

ivfdreaming Thu 09-Jul-20 20:55:33

Ah ok! I got in to bed at 8pm 🤣😴 so I'll log on to my works computer tomorrow x

Robs20 Thu 09-Jul-20 20:58:57

I have 11 week old twins and was showing from around 15 weeks, although with the right clothes could hide my bump until around 20 weeks.
Congratulations! Twins are hard work but so so wonderful smile

DaphneFanshaw Thu 09-Jul-20 21:00:39

I started showing around 10 weeks ish. No one was surprised after my 12 week scan when I told them I was pregnant so I wasn’t really able to hide it with baggy tops and a flowy scarf.
This was over 10 years ago now so it’s all a distant memory.

Lozz22 Thu 09-Jul-20 22:58:45

This was at 6 weeks. At the time I didn't know I was Pregnant with Twins until I miscarried at 9 weeks. First one came out 6 days later but I was still getting positive pregnancy tests 3-4 weeks later and my retained tissue 5 weeks after that turned out to be the second Baby.

FlashesOfRage Fri 10-Jul-20 01:26:27

Showed a bit at 8 weeks and was definite at 9 weeks and this is my first ever pregnancy!

ivfdreaming Fri 10-Jul-20 12:43:53

I feel "thinner" today so of course I'm panicking 🤣

ChampooPapi Fri 10-Jul-20 13:44:26

Even with twins so much of it is bloating, they are still so tiny up till twelve weeks! I cant believe anyone showing before then, I'm afraid that is pure bloating. This is my third and forth pregnancy, I'm pregnant with twins now, currently nearly 21 weeks and yes I looked 'pregnant' at 12 weeks but it was water retention and bloating, even with twins.

Actual bump started showing around 16 weeks so anyone feeling thinner or not showing much its because you are still very early. Dont worry!

ChampooPapi Fri 10-Jul-20 13:46:00

At 8 weeks the babies are just over half an inch each so absolutely tiny!

ivfdreaming Fri 10-Jul-20 13:53:55

Thanks! I've had several miscarriages before so sensitive to any changes/loss of symptoms! The only symptom I have at the moment is tiredness 🤣

MilsCookie Fri 10-Jul-20 14:19:26

Hey ladies - I'm currently 14+4 with twins and definitely have a small bump already (although as @ChampooPapi says it's probably most likely to be bloat 🤣) it's my second pregnancy (first was a mmc at 12 weeks) and I've been struggling to wear my usual jeans from around 10 weeks.

@JessicaPeach would you mind if I joined the WhatsApp group too? What type of twins are you having and how far are you? It's nice to chat to other twin mummas-to-be as they're hard to find! 😊

JessicaPeach Fri 10-Jul-20 16:14:54

Yeah sure! Pm me! X
