Breech at 28 weeks - How big is the chance baby will turn around?

Just as the title says, I've just been for a scan and baby is breech 😔 The Dr has given me some exercises to do for him to hopefully turn around, but I wanted to know how big the chances are?

I really, REALLY do not want a c-section 😭

I was 30 weeks when my twins swapped positions so I would say it's very possible...
Unfortunately they moved into transverse and breach the awkward buggers.

Mine was breech at 34 weeks and turned. Definitely very possible.

I think it's something like 20-25% of babies are breech at 28 weeks but only 3% at 37 weeks so the vast majority turn by the time it starts becoming an issue.
Try not to worry too much, you've still got plenty time.

Really common for babies to still be breech at 28 weeks.

My baby was breech at 30 weeks. I didn't just adopt the mindset that "oh she will then eventually" I actively helped my baby by trying different positions, getting a birth ball and being more active. She turned in 2 weeks. I did a video on it if you're interested:

Nothing to worry about, my baby is breech and I'm 36+1 and they're only just starting to pay attention. They don't worry before at least 34 😊

Yeah, my last 3 midwife appts baby has been head down (28) then transverse (31), then breech (34)! We’re going to review at the 36 week but they said not to worry until then. Bags of time. I’m spending a lot of time on the birthing ball though

Hello @SunStruck when I was pregnant last year my baby seemed to swap between breach and transverse. So was very capable of moving but obviously stuck in her ways and comfortable!
At 37 weeks they gave me an ECV, So the consultant physically turned her from the outside. When I was given the appointment baby was transverse but by the time I had the appointment she had moved back to breach so it was a lot of hard work!
Have they offered you that? I think they will only do it after 37 weeks though.
Before that I was told to bounce on a ball, or sit upside down with my legs up the back of the sofa.

@Mumimi yes the dr said they could do that later on if still breech :) is it usually successful though? Does it hurt?

I saw an amazing chiropractor who did the Bowen technique and got both DTs to go head down.

Mine was flipping between breech and transverse at 28 weeks. By 36 weeks baby was head down and has stayed there since, so plenty of tune for yours to turn!

It was successful, she stayed the right way up for another 3 weeks, haha.
They do tell you to go in prepared, so with your hospital back etc, as there is a chance they can break your waters but thats a rare chance I think. That's why they wait until 37 weeks when its full term.
I'm not going to lie, it did hurt. But they give you gas and air. It didn't hurt so much the baby turning it was more my doctors technique I think, and she was quite a small lady so it must have been some effort!
It can't hurt the baby either. She was monitored for quite a while before and after and during they kept checking her on the scanning equipment.
I was the same as you I did not want a c section, so the ECV was a short amount of pain to avoid that.
Another person mentioned the spinning babies website. We were recommended that to start with so tried a few of the exercises from that!

My baby was breach so midwife manual turned him. After night of sickness he turned back into breach. Next appointment midwife turned him again. Another night of feeling unwell baby turned back breach. 4 days before birth baby turned into normal position all by himself. Normal delivery. I wished I had not let midwife turn him as very uncomfortable and unpleasant.
