Having read and aahed over the recent birth threads, I think my empathy hormones have gone into overdrive.

Booked ba tthis morning to come over to uk in two weeks (will be thirty weeks); stood up to answer phone and felt baby slide neatly but completely down into my pelvis and engage. I have gone from huge bump to no bump. My trousers fell down as I stood up.

I have no pain, no contractions and feel bopping. Is this just mumsent empathy gone into overdrive or should I cancel ba and send dh out to buy some babystuff (as you can imagine, we have nothing, nothing at all).

Feel a bit stupid ringing obs and saying 'these women on mumsnet have had gorge babies and now I think I am going to go into labour having read their birthstories....' Am going to recline on sofa instead.

Has that happened to you before? Might be worth asking someone if it's normal.

Lie down, put your feet up and he/she might just wiggle back out again.

Am not telling anyone yet. Have mw friend who I am seeing tomorrow evening and will get advice from. If I tell obs then this being france will be in hosp so fast my feet will not touch ground and that will be end of sortie to London (waterstones, gap, royal academy, mates) and if I dont think about it or don anything, baby will just wriggle back into correct non-birthing position.

Good point GGG. Perhaps the birth stories have given you have an excessive amount of hormones making baby move down early?? I know they made me feel sooo broody.

Have only had one but I thought that subsequent babies could engage and unengage with impunity without its meaning anything?

Yes, lemonaid, they can. Thing is, I felt the slide and the difference in bump is stunning. Expecting to see a little hand waving out from my knickers any minute now.

Well bummer! That is the end of uk trip and bopping around like mad thing.

Had small bleed yesterday and had midwife friend over. The baby/my uterus have decided that the fun is over and I have two choices: spend the weekend on the sofa reclining like Marie Antoinette with sulky teenage daughter demanding "does this mean I cant go out then or go to the clinic where because of my decreptidness they will keep me in. Am therefore on sofa (ignoring sulky dd), but with ds tidying, dd2 cooking, dd3 dusting and dh flapping and burning toast.

Come talk to me!

Eeeeek. I know DD2 was 3/5 from about 34 weeks, but this sounds a bit scary.

babies can engage and reengage a lot... the bleed is probably nothing sinister, but i would certainly use it as an excuse to lie down and be waited on hand and foot for the next 12 weeks

Yes, have open door to clinic and hosp and emargency midwives.

Have icecream. We ahve run out of coffee so dh is sure to go shopping and I can demand ask for more.
