Confusing Tests - any advice?

Hi All

This is my first post, although have been reading with interest for a while!

We have been TTC for 2 years and I did a digital test last night which came back as pregnant. I have done two more today both negative.

Is it possible that they are just not detecting HCG, as it is really early (6 days before period) or more likely that the digital was wrong?

Thanks all

What are the other two tests? Maybe not as sensitive as the digital. More likely to have a false negative than a false positive. Congratulations 😄

Thanks so much for your reply. One was first response as I'd read they were really sensitive! Just feeling stressed now as feel like its going to be a waiting game! X

I always found first response gave an early positive much sooner than other tests. I remember crying on a Friday as not pregnant with a cheap early test and the next day trying first response and getting a positive.

False positive are very rare. False negatives more often

6 days before AF is due is super early! Better to wait till at least 12/13dpo if you can for a definite answer.

Yes I am still only 10 days today, I think I only tried yesterday as its the last month before our frozen ivf cycle as we had to abandon treatment 4 months ago due to covid. Will try to wait a couple of days, so hard! X

I’m so sorry to hear that @melyna86 that must be so hard. I’m not sure but could probably take some time. I asked this earlier this week (though I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks on 01/06 and still testing positive. Others said could be up to 6 weeks.

When I was first pregnant I had negative tears in the morning with FMU and positives later in the day, not sure why but I was worried too! 18 weeks today. So hopefully in a couple of days you'll get a stronger line

Hi OP,
That's so confusing, but positive means positive in my view so congratulations! There's something about the time of day/urine sample you use before your period is due that can effect the result, and generally evening samples are better early on, according to the research on this website....

Thanks Alpaca and Addler. I am hoping the next few days will mean things become clearer, almost wish I hadn't tested so early, I never usually do! And big congratulations on your 18 weeks, very exciting! X
