Please tell me this is a false positive

I’m pretty sure this is false positive but I’m freaking out honestly. Me and my ex had unprotected sex alllll throughout February in hopes of getting me pregnant. The relationship was extremely toxic though and soon after he began to get physically abusive so we split. That month I was late on my period and was sure I must be pregnant. However, tests were negative and I ended up bleeding as usual (just a little late). I’ve bled every month on the dot up to now. I’m late again by quite a few days so randomly took a test and this came back. The line is very pink BUT also very faint. I’d be sure it would be darker by now if I was. Also if I was pregnant I couldn’t have possibly bled monthly on the dot and got negative tests up to now right? I haven’t slept with anyone since February. My mum has been subtly mentioning pregnancy lately, I think as a way of subtly asking if I am since I’ve gained so much weight and my belly is admittedly pretty big (but that is where I always gain the most weight). Writing this while downing water so I can wee again and take another test 😂 please reassure me in the mean time

Please tell me this is a false positive

I'm sorry, but I think that's clearly positive.

How long did it take for the line to come up??

I think you need to make a doctors appointment. My mum has what she thought was periods throughout her 3 pregnancies. Because of this she didn’t realise she was pregnant with me until she was about 24 weeks 😰

It is strange that you were getting negatives after your initial late period though, and that the line is now so faint. Although when you’re quite far along in your pregnancy the line can get fainter (google hook effect).

If I were you I’d get another test, if another line appears make an appointment with your dr. Good luck!

I think it would be unlikely to be so faint if you'd been pregnant since February! Some people do continue to have periods though. I got pregnant in February and have a bit of a bump now but it isn't significant so I can see how people miss it!

I'd take another test and if the same thing happens you might need to speak to your GP to have a blood test for a definite answer. Hope it works out negative for you xx

There's much higher chances of getting a false negative than a false positive, so I'm inclined to say this really is positive.

False positives are very rare. Get a digital test.

I'm not sure you can get a false positive? Sorry. But yes, get a digital one as it will say the weeks too

How long did the line take to show up?

Report
applepip21 · 27/06/2020 09:51

It came up within 30 seconds before the control line did

I’d do another one- the control line on that one looks a bit dodgy, part of it has lost its colour.

Omg did you do another test??

Chl00 · 27/06/2020 21:07

If you haven’t had sex since February then you’d be half way through your pregnancy and the test will therefore come up faint at this point, add water to your pee and then dip a pregnancy test in and see if the line is darker.. that is definitely a positive and false positives are very rare

I think that looks like a positive too.

You need another test and then medical advice.

Soubriquet · 27/06/2020 21:15

That has colour...so I’m sorry but I would take that as a positive

Nixen · 27/06/2020 21:25

I think that’s a true positive I’m afraid OP.
Try a digital pregnancy test

It's a positive test. Have you got another test? Try to do it with first morning urine- downing lots of water will dilute the wee and the hormone you're testing for.

Whenever I tested from weeks 5 of pregnancy onwards, my test line always came up before the control line.

Get to the docs ASAP and get them to test you.

I think it would be darker if you haven’t had sex since February. But it does look like a positive. Try and take a first response with first morning urine. Keep us updated! X

After a certain point the line gets fainter again - one of the hormones or the chemicals in the hcg or something like that reduces as your pregnancy progresses.

If it was an asda test they have form for false positive. Look at the asda website and check reviews.

If she’s pregnant she’s gunna be nearly half way so pregnancy tests don’t work the same, I’m 22 weeks and if I take one now it will be very faint, the more diluted my wee is the darker the test is.. the testing wee in the morning thing only matters if she was like early on which is impossible if she ain’t had sex 😅
