Should I book a private scan??

Hi all! Currently 6+3.. got letter through from hospital and my first scan isn't until 6th August! This is stressing me a little bit as I have thyroid issues and I know this can increase risk of miscarriage. I was scanned at 8 and 9 weeks at my booking appointment with my first two children, are they dropping appointments due to covid? I was seen at 8,12,16 and 20 weeks with my first two!
Have any of you booked privately because of this? Did it make you feel more relaxed? I'm just constantly on edge with every wee twinge 🙈

I went for a private scan at 6 weeks (earlier this week). I would definitely recommend for anyone who's thinking of it, I don't see why not if you're in a position to do so and it can hopefully ease any anxiety. X

Congratulations!

I booked a private early scan when I was around 6 weeks and it cost £45. It was called a pregnancy reassurance scan & even though it doesn't look anything like a baby they let you watch the heartbeat, I remember when I went for mine thinking I was 6 weeks but actually 8 weeks 😂. Otherwise I would have had to have waited for my 12 week scan. This was before Covid but now I'm 34 weeks & at my hosp they are doing every other midwife appointment face to face and telephone consultations for the missed ones.

It really does put your mind at ease having the private one for reassurance as it is a while to wait for the nhs 1st scan Smile

I have a thyroid disorder and wasn’t scanned before 12 weeks.

I did go to two private scans though (due to concerns because of previous mc)

Thanks everyone! I think I'll book one for next week or the following week! Hopefully everything will be fine and once I see that all is going as it should I'll be able to relax. Maybe I'll be able to see a bit more then too!
